Barbie, Jenny, Fashion Royalty, Obitsu and 1/6 resins - basically anything 10-12inch/21-27cm or in the neighborhood.

Here's another body reference http://dolfielittles.com/encyclopedia.html I own everyone here so I can answer what kind of head will fit on which body.

You are just awesome! That reference is fantastic. The Sideshow male figure is... he's perfect to be the cursed golem I have in mind in every way from skin colour to body type to head sculpt. And OMG! you can't beat the price. What are Sideshow like to deal with (i.e. customer service, speed of delivery, etc.), if you know?

I saw the poses you put this guy through. Can he stand unaided? I don't mean forever or randomly plunked on a shelf for days or weeks on end, but for say... the time it would take when doing a photoshoot?

And with regards to the Volks (while I have your attention), they state that the dolls can't stand by themselves and require a stand. I only need them to remain standing/posing for photostories. The rest of the time my dolls are tucked away in their boxes, safe from the mischief of Idiot Cat. Will they remain standing/posing long enough for that or are they made of fail and fall over the second you let them go/don't have something supporting them?

I bought my grey Sideshows years ago from an art store, those were sold under the name Art S Buck, and the Dead Collector of Ebay.

With the Volks most will fall over, after awhile they just get floppy, the Goh is a bit more stable. Not to discourage because I've got some Volks that are 7-8 years old and still in one piece. If the doll has magnets in its feet or shoes it's easier to stand, that's why many of us have gone with Obitsus.

The unable to remain standing is a big thing for me (and why I like the Obitsu I do have). I'm loving the body style of the Neo-Guy (http://www.volksusa.com/2227ne0009.html) as it looks more buffed than the Obitsu, but if standing unaided even for brief periods of time is going to be an issue, I'd rather not deal with the annoyance. I already have one doll (OD Tae) that is sketchy about standing well despite re-stringing, hot glue sueding AND wiring his legs, so I'd prefer not to have to deal with that with another doll. Damn shame though.

Fortunately, it seems like the skin tones of Volks and Obitsu match well so I could always get this head: http://www.volksusa.com/227op0001.html and pop it on the Obitsu muscled body.

That head would not be able to go on a Obitsu slim male body as it requires a wider neck. Also the skin tone is different between the two. BTW I don't have a problem having my male Volks dolls standing by themselves. The Volks girls that I have are another story.

Nope, I'm after the muscled body for this character. The slim wouldn't work physically for either character I have in mind. Hmm, if the male muscle body can stand by himself then it may be back on the table.

I had initially looked at the slim heads for the muscle bodies because the 2 heads Obitsu has for their muscle body didn't wow me for either character, but the slim heads are nice. Seeing as the slim head on the muscle body won't work, I've been looking at other head options.

Here is a Volks muscled body and a Ken head. You should ask Pandor if she has any pixs of combination.

That body is awesome and really what I was hoping to have for this character. Thanks for the link as its always best to see owner shots and the Volks site has just the one pic of the body.

iron_dog- "Pandor" is a member of this forum. "OSW" is a member of the other forum that the links are to. You can pm "Pandor" here and ask her if she has any ideas or pixs. You would have to join the other forum to ask "OSW" any questions.

You should also look at Catshem's pics. I know her OC Luc is on the Volks body too and it looks gorgeous. His pics are in the photostory section.
