There is a delicay about their faces that i adore. It reminds me of porcelain. But her hair and clothing-WOW!!!!

She reminds me of an old porcelain doll that my great grandmother had. They have the same expression and the clothes really aren't all that dissimilar, either. And yes, the hair and clothes! Exquisite!

Actually, Marie Antoinette probably did NOT say that. It was Louis XIV's wife, Marie, who was the "great princess" but either way, Louis XVI and Marie had to pay for the sins of his father and grandfather.

I've read a lot about Marie, her life, and the political surroundings of the French Revolution. Horrid stuff...but it's as good as any horror movie I've watched. ;D Now, if I can just find some other Pullips to make the whole family, I'd be in Pullip heaven! ;D

And of course it didn't help that she wasn't French herself. (Now I'm trying to remember if the Horrible Histories guys ever did a sketch about her... They have done various French Revolution skits so probably) Brilliant comedy even if it is supposed to be aimed at children - The League of Gentlemen (Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton et al.) are doing a few sketches for the show this year.)

She was Austrian, and the French HATED that. I have a skit with Steve Allen, from his Meeting of the Minds program. Marie is included. It was a great skit. I've also a few books from the late 1800s written about her that I found at local antique shops and luck have it, Salvation Army! She was so young when she went to France. Her mother...well, her mother never educated her in the political scene. Louis wasn't much better either. His parents died when he was young, which left the Louis XIV (his grandfather) in control of things. HE never taught Louis much about politics, either. Then Louis XVI brothers...they were meddlers and wanted the crown for themselves, from what I've read. Although, I don't think that anything could have stopped the Revolution. The French people wanted blood.
