Question because I have been out of the 1/6 loop for so long. I've been crazy busy, and haven't been prowling the toy aisles, other than a trip to one of the two Toys R Us stores in my state before Christmas (and it was a mess and I found very little).

Mattell was going to release articulated Barbie Basics. I we really excited about them when I saw photos from last year's toy fair. However, when I didn't see them before Christmas, I thought they were not released. Now I'm thinking they are out.

Does anyone have any info? Are they exclusive to one chain or another?

Thanks!

I don't think the articulated Basics were sold in any stores I have only seen them online. I think they were released a while ago so good luck trying to track one down. If you are looking for a pale body there is a pale Fashionista now.

Those Basics were the 2.5 ones and they were mostly sold at Barbie Collector.com and a few stores online very briefly. There were only 3 but they had great faces and full articulation and they pretty much sold out almost immediately even though they were quite a bit more than the non-articulated ones. Very hard to obtain unless you want to pay through the nose for one. I like the pale Loubutin blond a lot myself but I gave up on getting any of those. Too expensive, shrug.

The Black Label collector Barbies, like the ones based on paintings are starting to use jointed bodies. The Elvis and Sinatra girls are pivotal and I'm half tempted to get a Klimt. They're lighter than the 100 poses girls and come in several tones, I did head swaps with Stardolls and the match is pretty good.

The Barbie Klimt? I just got one and while the arms are well jointed, her legs aren't. She doesn't have ball jointed hips, they only swing forward and back. Her legs don't bend at all - one is permanently straight and one is permanently bent.

Thanks for the heads up, I liked the expression on her face but haven't bought yet.

The play line Barbies didn't really have any interesting to me at Toy Fair 2012.

The Winx club dolls looks pretty neat but they only have jointed legs on the $12 ones and the $25 ones have a lot more joints.
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.

Not sure if they appeal to me though

I guess I'll have to reserve judgement until I see them IRL.
