Meltedcaramel, I don't know about one on Devart. The one I am referring to is how to make wire frame glasses. However I don't know if the website is still around. I usually always print out stuff just in case it disappears. :D

If it is a single page, you can also save a copy of the page to your computer.

(Be sure to save the complete page, not just HTML-only.)

maywong, happen to have a link handy for the wire rim glasses tutorial? And Studio 126 is right, I always save the whole webpage to stuff I'm afraid will go away. ^_~

Any chance of scanning that hard copy? I'm desperate here. The type of glasses my custom wears are literally huge for his face and completely round. I'd really like to know how to make wire glasses, especially because the thinner gauge wire looks prettier on smaller customs. :D

Thanks for all the info! Miko is being scraped for sure and become some else. My Power Team is growing on me but not as Kato. :/

Barbie Basics Ken #15 and Japan Ken are pricey. I'm liking the G.I. Joe Japanese Zero Pilot. I think 2009 Playmates Sulu is a maybe.

The Playmate Sulu has a very yellow skintone that matches no other bodies. You might be better off using a reg, Ken's head on that Jake's body and repainting the face. For some reason the pix. I put up with a Ken's head on a Jake's body is missing. If you want to see it let me know.

maywong, I wouldn't mind seeing that picture if you don't mind? I love seeing different doll hybrids.

Gift_in_Edge Hmnn, the price points on Japanese Ken and G.I. Joe Zero Pilot seem to be nearly the same from where I'm looking (Amazon for Ken and Ebay for Joe). I think the G.I. Joe is a bit....plain looking to be Kato. It's more that the figure doesn't quite fit Kato's more slender appearance and his features don't really scream "Asian" to me, and if anything he looks a bit more Chinese in my opinion (nothing against him, just for this specific character I'm not seeing it). That's why I thought of Japanese Ken to begin with, because he's got Asian features that are fairly prominent, and he's a bit less overtly masculine without being outright feminine, like Kato is. Plus, for consistency's sake with Britt and his plastic hair it would be easy to take out Ken's hair and give him an apoxie sculpt haircut in Kato's exact style.

maywong's idea of a generic Ken head repaint is just as good, it just really depends on how far you want to take it with the character and him looking aesthetically Asian. A regular Ken can be repainted to have Asian eyes, but the nose, cheeks, jawline, etc, are still going to be rather your general Caucasian look (Yes I know Barbie/Ken comes in all shapes and sizes but generally Ken has a very Caucasian aesthetic unless you search out specific sculpts, some of which are more rare than Japanese Ken by far!) unless you can modify the head that much.

Again, this is all just suggestion. I feel like I'm coming off bossy in this post and I really don't mean to. He's your custom, your Kato, and how you want him is how you want him!! :oops: Please forgive me if I sound know-it-all like. I'm far from an expert, just suggesting would I would do. I mean it as advice only. ^^;

Sorry for the bad pix. The skintones do match up.
He is from "Crimson Spell" but I just haven't made his clothes yet. This is a Jake's body with a Ken's head on it. I rerooted the head, slight face up, fingernails added and body blushing.

Would a Ryan head work? Some have black hair already. I think I'll try that first.

@MeltedCaramel: Don't worry, you're fine. I was lucky Britt Reid was easy. Kato is my favorite character, so I being a little more picky with him. I'll defendly be keeping the pictures of what dolls I found I like for face-up ideas. Heck I might still get some of them just to have. Going the Barbie roture will hopefully satisfy me for now. I have high hopes for 2014 dolls to come. Thanks everyone for your help!
