Does anyone on DS actually collect Barbies?

I collect the Kens, and FR guys too. I do a little repainting/ face ups as well as rerooting. My reason is that I am trying to make the dolls into certain characters. I also rebody some of my dolls because I hate bodies that don't pose. This comes in handy when you are doing photostories.

Yes, if you doing photo stories you really need to be able to pose them nicely. I adore the FR dolls, but cannot afford them thanks to the exchange rate Have you posted any of your dolls? If yes, please share the link. I'd love to see them!

Customizing Barbies is how I "collect' barbie so yeah lol. And honestly, playline Barbie is my main collection, while Monsters, ponies, etc etc all have been side collections so yeah. I just don't post my dolls here much since I'm just a huge lazy butt about it plus I dunno if others are really interested in them so yeah heh. But yeah they're the top of my hierarchy here haha.

I have a bunch of barbies, some new, some from when I was a kid. I'm not sure I would say I collect them, mostly it's more like, "I buy thrift store dolls with facemolds I like, regardless of brand, and put them on new articulated bodies, for fun".

@ Maywong - You have some really nice dolls. I particularly like the hunk sitting under the red satin bed cover. Love long hair!

@ KD - What an interesting collection! There are so many different types of dolls. Some 'alien' in colour, some a tiny bit scary and many quite beautiful. I like that male doll in the bottom pic with the beard and moustache. It's not often I've seen that and never in any of our shops here.

@ Anderson's - Yes. I have noticed that there are a lot of people who like doing decapitations

All of my childhood Barbie/Ken/Skipper/Stacie/Kelly/Tommy collection is long gone, passed on to younger cousins when I was a teenager and decided I was too old to play with dolls anymore... (Of course, right after that, I started collecting anime dolls. But I didn't "play" with them so... )

The only Barbies in my collection currently are a Fashionista Ken and a Barbie head on a Volks body.

I've had Barbies since...jeez...forever. I went through a period where I was too "old" for dolls (thank goodness I grew out of that) but lost all my 70's and early 80's Barbies. I've been trying to recollect them over the past several years. I also fell in love with a line that was out in 2005 - Fashion Fever. I collected a bunch of them as well. I even have some Silkstones including two Francie Silkstones that I adore.
I have some shelf babies, too. Gals that have never been removed from the box like the Irish dolls of the world, several repros, and some other special gifts.

Mary Kathryn I LOVE your dolls! I particularly like Melody! Her hair is striking and she has a different little face. Plus her shoes are really nice! I only have one FF , but yes, they are gorgeous!

How many dolls do you have? I'm up to 40, but they not all Barbies. Most are, but I also have 2 Moxie Teenz, a H4H girl, a tiny porcelain doll, some Steffie Love dolls, a Monica Devil doll, A pair of Glamour girls dolls, 3 Susy dolls, 2 less popular brands and about 3 unknown 'Barbie-type' dolls. Each have their own story and personality. (My husband thinks I'm nuts )

Is Golden Dream the one that came in a gold lame outfit? If so I had her once.

I think I've had a falling out with the Superstar face mold. A couple of the gals I have bonds with have hung around. I can't say if I have a favorite face. Only recently have I began to discover the different molds and figure out who I have and by luck it's easier to say who I don't. I'm definitely happier with the Blaine faced Ken.

That's her. I have the gold lame outfit but prefer her in the prairie dress.

MelodyT - I honestly had no idea how many I had so I counted just the Barbies for you.
166 on display right now. I have two boxes full stored away as well.
