Orchid transformed - Blythe

Postby Valli » Mon Aug 23, 2010 11:19 am

I have just the one Blythe. I'm delighted with her transformation.

Before (she was already customised when I bought her as a bait ie needed work. She had no scalp and I put this wig on stuffed with paper while I waited to finish her.)

My inspiration were these beautiful orchids. I wore one many years ago and loved it.

After
Image

Blue chips from Ixtee. I've painted the outer ring and pupil in dark blue.
Image

Tuquoise chips from Ixtee. I painted all the hearts individually with silver and the pupil. Took ages, but I love the effect.
Image

Deep purple chips from Ixtee. Painted the pupil black.
Image

Cool Cat Chips in purple and jade. They came with foil and I painted the pupil black.
Image

Nostrils, lips and philtrum carved. I had carved more out of the upper lip, but didn't like it, so I filled it back in.
Image
Lids and eye socket painted in shades of turquoise and purple with silver added to enhance the swirls. I used acrylics and patels.

Pull strings changed for ribbon and flower beads added in shades of jade and purple.

All topped off with a Neemo Flection body and a Sleeping Elf wig. Just ordered more hand sets.

Why thank you! I had fun with her, though it was very scary at times.

Wow! Blythes are so not my kind of doll, but Orchid turned out fabulously! I love her face-up and chips, and that wig is so delicious I could eat it up om nom nom. :)
Great job!

Blythe's are so much better after customization.

Thanks Pandor. Actually Blythes weren't my thing until recently. It was the customised ones that attracted me. I'm still not interested in the bog standard ones. But no way was I going to buy an expensive one to customise. Originally I bought a Basaak, but it never arrived and so I bought this one. I'm thrilled with the results.

Thanks Richilla. The hearts were already engraved in the eye, all I had to do was be careful and paint them. The blue eyes also have hearts, but I just didn't enhance them only the outer ring.

I absolutely agree Zirconmermaid. Now she's special. Even though she was customised before, I wasn't that thrilled with her. I tried putting a wig on her and thought about changing her body, but the more I thought about it, the more I knew I just had to start afresh and let my imagination run free. When my CCE (blythe clone) arrives I'm going to make her over too, but probably in a more natural style. She'll have a few different wigs one of which is a brilliant orange. I think I'll make her lids brown and use soft peach and russet colours. I'll see once she's here. Though she's already customised too.

You have a Blythe head? Oh go on... do something to her. Did you need a body?

Actually I'd rather she have a different home. I thought I'd want one but we just don't get along, she needs eyes, a scalp, and more time than I want to give to her.
