Moxie Girls--Surgery and Now Complete [IMG HEAVY]

Postby lilreeper » Wed Aug 25, 2010 7:27 pm

I have two Moxie Girls, my second bought actually a few hours ago. Now, I have finished the surgery to change their eyes.
Instead of explaining each picture, I'll just post them, and answer any questions in following posts.

Also, my short review is... I love their heads, and their clothes. I couldn't have asked for better.
The bodies though... *shudders* they do not stand, they do not sit, however when they lean against something they pose like a dream. So, I'm on a quest to find them new bodies.

Let's begin!

Is it just me or are these two different sizes?

Now, see, I was going to pick up a Moxie Teen, but then I heard how flimsy and non-poseable they were, and I decided against it.

Every time I see these doll's heads I think they look like Tonner's Ellowyne Wilde. Your pictures of the bald eyeless head just confirmed it even more so. If they aren't direct copies, they are *really* close.

I like my dolliehs a lot.
Actually, I like my dolliehs more than I like a lot of people I know in real life.
Is that bad? I think not!

I have the dark headed one - with the pink outfit. I made her a jacket which my son stole for his I.G. Joe-type guy (a Hot Toys purchase).

I'm not too happy with their posing abilities....and was thinking that *maybe* the head is big enough for a 47cm Obitsu body - or if I can find a 1/6 resin body? Not sure yet which way I want to go. (I know that 1/6 would be cheaper.)

I just love their faces and sultry looks. lol! Of all the things to buy them for, you know?

By not poseable do you mean that the joints are so loose that they can't be posed without being held instead of not poseable because they are stiff like normal Barbies are? If that's the case then maybe there is a way to make the joints less loose? Or if you are still thinking of using a different body how about Liv? If they can share wigs maybe they can share bodies too?

I think the non-posibility is more that the joints are limited. I bought two (cause they were on sale) and sure, they don't pose like an obitsu, but I have to admit that I was not surprised and I wasn't really disappointed. I got about what I expected from a mass market American made product of this type. In fact, I'd say they are probably better than some I've seen - at least for the price. Offhand, they are about as poseable as a Momoko doll.

I've got Dawn (my MT) sitting right underneath my Ellowyne and there is quite a bit of resemblance there.
And the MT eyes are a bit wonky. If you'll look even in the promo pics the left eye is sitting slightly higher in the socket than the right. So you may be spot on with one being bigger than the other.

That's exactly it! I still really do like the one that I have, though. I just wish her body were a bit chunkier.

Actually, if you're talking about a resin 1/6, it will likely be more expensive than the vinyl 47. And from what I can tell, the head's likely too small for the 47, but I don't own a Moxie. What's their head circumference? Cuz the smallest that I think would fit the 47 is about a 7/8" (like Haruka).
