Questions while I consider buying

Postby Kyia Kyia » Thu Sep 16, 2010 8:37 pm

Hey all, I'm Sherilyn.
I've been considering getting a doll for a good while now and have been recently been seriously considering getting an obitsu 27cm.

Firstly, I'm thinking of using Junkyspot for buying my doll but is there any other place that would work just as well? From what I've seen, Junkyspot has lovely customer service and if I'm right, they're based in SF, right? So, it shouldn't take too long to ship to me.
A nano haruka head with a large soft bust body and the magnetic feetsies, is what I'm thinking.
I should be able to sew the clothing myself just fine. So, clothes are covered. If I get lazy, which in store doll clothes fit?
I'd like to know, is there a good place to go to buy a mohair wig for that size of doll? And what size is it anyways!?
What about those uber cute sneakers I keep seeing? You know, those ones with the thick laces, kind of oversized look? Where could I get those? Only Mimiwoo?
Does this size head need eye putty?
What types of things would you consider a must?

Anyone have any good sites with body comparison with the haruka head?

I buy from JS my obitsu dolls. The shipping is really fast. Some Barbie clothes fit Obitsu.

JunkySpot is the way to go if you want an Obitsu. Great customer service and superfast shipping (barring unforeseen circumstances, of course). I've always had great experiences with Emory-tachi.

Short of ordering direct from parabox (and paying high postage) there is no real choice other than Junkyspot and Emory - and of course I recommend him highly as well! You will never get faster shipping and better customer service. In fact, if you live in CA you may get your order the next day! I live in AZ and I can always count on having my item exactly 3 days after I order :)

I went ahead and ordered. So excited! ^__^ I'd think the soonest I could get my package would be Saturday. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get the mail that day or not. Supposed to be going somewhere for a week to help take care of my great grandma. I'm glad to know it takes 3 days for your stuff to get there since I might be moving to AZ within a year to my boyfriend. (Who actually is the owner of the credit card I used.)

And seeing as this will be my first doll of this sort, I'm glad to finally be able to fully participate in forums. :D Maybe it'll prompt me to clean out my doll house I've been using as a shelf for the last few years too. At least as a lounge area.

Does anyone have any online tutorials or patterns they love to use?

By shoes if you mean the ones that look like Chuck Taylor and Vans knock-offs you can look for shoes for Blythe, I've seen some sellers market them that way. The Chucks also come sized for the bigger resins so make sure they're for a 1/6 doll.

A large bust doesn't wear many Barbie clothes, stretchy tops are okay but most other things won't have big enough cups. If her body isn't sealed make sure she doesn't wear anything with dark fabric or thread for too long because she might stain, unless the things have been dye set.

With Mimi Woo buying small things like shoes is okay, don't buy dolls because Junky Spot will beat the price and delivery time, and be very very cautious of the wigs because they might not fit right.

As a matter of loyalty, Junky Spot is my "go to" source for all things Obitsu.

I am curious though, as to whether anyone here has a doll made up of the Nano Haruka head on the 27 cm body. I'm sure I've seen them but I can't think of any specific examples at the moment.

Junkyspot all the way!!! :D

I have two nano harukas on 27 cm bodies:

Iris is on the left and Orchid is on the right. The other nano haruka was on a 23 cm body....that she's donated to someone else. :p

I've gotten most of my 1/6 scale Obitsu hightops browsing around on e-bay. Look for Blythe or Pullip sized shoes. They should fit and there are a ton of choices out there.

Dolly Kim, Thank you! That' should be terribly helpful. :) Do you know how pants from in store dolls would fit? Namely barbie since I don't see the others with much of spare clothing at my local store.

Mary Kathryn, Thank you for that too! I tried looking around flickr but didn't see many over there. My friends are excited for me and were wondering what it might look like put together, that's very helpful.
