Playing with a couch

I wanted to play with my new yellow couch.
So I did.

(I've been massively inactive on here - still sewing doll clothes, still into BJDs, but fell headlong into 1:6 a few months ago. Whee!)

Here's the overview shot.
ImageOverview by Elizabeth Young, on Flickr

Silly Conversations!
Left to right, more or less
Glitz: Over dressed. Oh well!
Ruby Red: Oberon! No, no latte for you!
Curvy: Tequila is not my friend.
Petite: Sorry I'm late!
MtM Lea: Crap. That dog has GOT to go.
Purple hair: My face is missing. AGAIN!
Valencia: Can you believe her?
Florida Vacation: OMG
MtM: I hope I don't look like I'm talking to myself!
Blondie: How was the gym?
Tall: (zenned out)

Here is the Flickr album link, and two of my favorite pics from the set.

You made that? Wow! It looks great. Very comfy.

(You have a brown Obitsu dog too!! I simply adore mine.)

Welcome to 1/6 land. There's much stuff available as long as you have space to house it.

Quite a fun looking buildup you got started.

Yes. I made up my own measurements as the original tutorial didn't really give any, based on the (human) Peggy sofa from West Elm, but ultimately went with wooden bead legs as I decided against difficult spindly legs. I also decided to tuft the cushions.

I'll try to pull the images I posted on my FB of my couch build and stick them in another message.

Here is a link to the flickr album with all the progress pictures.

And here they are, in a vaguely useful order, with additional commentary.

I used 1/2" foam core for the 'frame' of the couch, and 3/16" foam core for the cushion bases. And soft foam for the cushions and some fuseable batting but switched to cotton batting and glue after I got melted foam core all over my mini iron. As the tutorial at paperdollminiatures suggests, I used Wonder Under to stick the fabric to the frame.

The couch is beautiful! I love the style, it looks so comfy, I would want one. Great job, and thanks for linking the tutorial.

I love your 1/6 collection, welcome to the scale! You do amazing sewing in larger sizes, I can't wait to see what you make for your new crew.
