Ministry of Propaganda

Postby Geektopian » Wed Nov 17, 2010 2:48 pm

A little something I threw together this afternoon. Soon-to-be "Beloved Leader" Alrich Stahl appears in a National Unity Party election/propaganda poster.

And "Miss Pinkie" addresses her concerns in a new blog entry:

If there are posters today there can't be goose stepping soldiers far behind!!! I back up Pinky's bad feeling.

Yep, the link is in my sig. Apparently, I may need to increase the font size a bit. (Font size now increased.)

That's not goose stepping, they're just marching in a very orderly fashion!

Speaking of... I started working on my fairly quick and simple sturmtruppen... uh, I mean um, Volksarmee. My masked Cobra Command heads just weren't cutting it and refused to go on their new bodies. Then there was the prospect of repainting six to eight faces. I decided to just go with the black balaclava and tinted goggles look to disguise the fact that most of the rank and file troops are clones. A bit less dramatic but more "do-able".

Now, they are kind of an homage to both Cobra from GI Joe and the Wehrwolf squads from Victory Force Miniatures' N.E.W. War line- LINK.

Oh and look, the Volk are already happy!

I decided to combine Chancellor Stahl's back story with my existing fictional nation of Caelia. This gave me a chance to use established designs and setting. Most of this artwork is from an actual poster created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the DDR (East Germany).

Thank you! I've been having way too much fun making these things up. I should probably concentrate on fleshing out the back story a bit more but MEH....

I posted this earlier in General Discussion. I don't want to get too far out of the bounds of this forum but this fits with the over-all theme of the thread.

As I mentioned previously, this is mostly a poster from the DDR (East Germany) with a number of changes. I had a real challenge trying to match the watercolor look of the original but it looks OK on my monitor.
