Out of all my dolls, Souichirou, better known as Sochi, is the oldest - I've had him for coming up on three years now - and he's still one of my favorites. The other day, however, I noticed that the symbol on his cheek had smudged, and decided to take the whole thing off. After a little consideration, I decided to continue the trend, figuring that my drawing skills had improved enough over that period of time that it would be worth it to just redo the whole thing. So here he is - Sochi 2.0
Old Souchi. This was only my third faceup ever, and the first one on a doll I actually used.
And New Souchi! As you can see, my style's really changed a lot. I feel like my work on Dess has actually made the smaller scale easier to work in, if that makes any sense. Maybe it's just taught me how to approach it from a 3D perspective? His character looks a bit different like this, but I like it. I decided the big ol' cross on his cheek was kind of silly looking, and didn't really fit with the story anyways, being WAY too obvious.
I'm considering redoing some of the others, but I'm not sure. Most of my other dolls from that era have ginormous anime heads, so I don't know if a more realistic style like I did for Sochi would suit them, and a lot of the Obitsus have eyes molded on them, meaning I don't have quite as much room to play around. I'll have to see how bored I get this weekend.
