For my rommate's birthday I've ordered her a 23cm Obitsu that I'm going to do the faceup on and make a period dress for. I'm wondering if Barbie patterns will fit her? Does anyone have an opinion on that?

JanetT has been using Barbie patterns on her dolls. I think she had to find a copier and reduce the pattern size.

Barbie fits my 27cm Obitsu and it's even a little big on her, I think 23 would more fit Bratz and Moxie Girl.

I've used Licca/Blythe size and some vintage/Malibu Skipper size on mine. Their proportions are different than Barbie.
Some Bratz clothes fit. Barbie t-shirts work. My 21cm girl wears clothes for Barbie's sister Stacey, I think the only difference in the bodies is the length of the legs.

I have tried on some "barbie" (not 100% sure if it is barbie, might be a knock off brand.) clothes and they fit really well on my 27cm obitsu.

Basic equivalent Obitsu-to-Barbie and family sizes are:
27cm - Little shorter than Barbie, and more slender. Fits Barbie clothes loosely, fits Teen Skipper clothes fairly well (just harder to find)
25cm - About the same height as the average Skipper. Should fit her clothes pretty well.
23cm - Little shorter than vintage Skipper, about same body shape as Stacey. Also fits Bratz/Moxie clothes.
11cm - Should fit Kelly clothes fine, might be some difference in sleeve/pant length?
There is a lot of trial and error with fitting, especially with the different busts on the 27 and 25 cm models. Basically I'd go looking for patterns for Stacey (and Todd for boy clothes), maybe vintage Skipper though they'd be a bit big. And Bratz clothes are pretty easy to find in thrift stores and garage sales right now, they fit pretty well and you can always take them apart to make a pattern off them.

What SillyLilPuppet said.
The big-busted Obitsu girls can wear some Barbie clothes; the medium and small-busted girls can wear some. It depends on which model of Barbie the clothes were designed for (since Barbie changes over time). They can wear some of the shoes.
The 27cm slim males can wear Barbie's pants. Sometimes they can wear Ken's shoes.
When I make clothes for the Obitsu girls from Barbie patterns, I reduce the pattern to about 85-89%, and that generally works. (for the big-busted girls, it needs to be reduced a bit less). I just take the pattern to Staples and shoot the pieces down at varying percentages (and label the percentage on each piece). Same goes for using Ken patterns for the slim males, who smaller and more slender than Ken.
For the 25cm and 21-23cm girls, the pattern needs to be reduced even further. Those gals are TINY.
I have one vintage Skipper pattern that works on the 21/23cm kids. Some of the Bratz stuff works too. But it's often a case of shooting it down and then fudging to get it to fit.
The 11cm kids can wear some Kelly/Tommy outfits, and even some of their shoes.

Thanks so much everyone! I really appreciate the input. I found a decent pattern that I think I can alter. I'll update later with how it goes!
