Savers is my saviour? Lol, I dunno. Plus other doll antics.

So yeah, turns out there's a huge Savers near my uni. Savers is basically a thriftstore on steroids and I was surprised by how much it had. I of course drifted to the pile of generic blondes and found a couple of dolls I wanted.

Eventually I settled on the vintage Ballerina who was very grubby and her hair is just terrible. However she had her crown thingy which my other three Ballerinas had lacked.

I also picked up a 12 Dancing Princess twin mostly because I indeed to add joints to her knees and use her body for a doll who needs a smaller body.

There was also a Hollywood nails Barbie who I could've used the body for the above Ballerina, a Fashion Fever with the pivotal arms and a few other dolls, but I only had $4 on me which got me these gals.

I would usiually balk at paying more than a $1.50 for these at my local Fleamarket but I reminded myself that I almost paid $10 for each of the above dolls, so... I think I did pretty well.

But yeah, another source of cheap dolls >:D

Lols, I've tried so many things but her hair has still become this huge, matted, ugly ball....
I stuck her in Carrie's original outfit and got rid of most of the white paint on her face (there's a bit left on her eyeshadow) and yeah...

Image
And here is the three Ballerinas together. It's interesting what variations all of them have and how different they all turned out to be...

Image
Debbie: Can we fix it?
Belinda: No, it's screwed.

Image
So yeah, I used a total of 25 Q-tips to curl her hair and lots of thread to hold it all in place as I boiled it. It was needlessly tedious and it took so much out of me.. bleh.

So here's a pic of her looking crazy with the things sticking out of her head.

Image
Andrea pointed out that frizzy hair, whilst being frizzy could probably hold a nice curl. I decided to test this out by randomly curling the doll's hair with q-tips. I was surprised how instant the curls held in after the perm. Usually with hair like saran, you have to leave the hair to dry in that position otherwise the hair begins to relax. With this hair though, the ringlets were really tight and springy...

Image
I intended to give her some nice relaxed curls but I figured this hairdo certainly suited her MUCH better than some curls...

Image
So yeah, here's a few views of the hair. It's still uber frizzy and there's plenty of stray hairs, but I figure it looks much nicer than a random blob of matted/felted hair sticking out the back of her head, haha.

Image
lols with this new hair I get this really really eastern European primadonna attitude. So rather instead of Anna I'm aiming to call her Anya or Octavia lol.
Poor, poor Derpy Debbie confused by her sister's antics. You may notice her body has some modding to give her a better range of movement...

Image
Lols I took another gander and in the infamous fun bags, I saw... A FIRST GENERATION PONY! OH MY GAWD, I DIDN'T CARE IF IT'S SITTING, IT'S MINEEEEE. *grabs and pays $2 alongside the two Llama ponies*

I also found a Action Girl knock off that came on a hollow body so I took off her head and put it on the spare weirdly jointed body I've had for a few years...

This is them in my bath tub.

Image
The sculpt is interesting but I really like the eye paint as well... :c Decisions, decisions...

Image
Lols I got these doll heads from Andrea like almost 3-5 years ago but thety've been languishing in the head box from being bald and not having bodies up until recently.

I shoved the Skipper head onto the body and thought "Huh, she could almost pass for Dusty's sister for having a creepy face, orange face and a tanned MGAE body"... Then I realised I still had fur leftover from Dusty's wig.

Derp so using the last remains of fur I gave these two dolls hair.

Asides from my ongoing TnT reroot all my current dolls now have hair, haha. And the weird clone head I just got...

Image
Lols Dusty and Skipper hang out for a family shot...

Gosh they're both terrible posers took forever to find a decent pose for them.

Image
So my ANTM head stole this gal's body and the head looked wrong with the volks arms. So I grabbed Music Row's old arms and stuck it onto this body. I then lopped off 2cm from her calves and she looks cute now.

Though I REALLY want to get her a Pullip type 3 body...

Great thrift store finds! I love what you did with Anna/Anya / Octavia's hair.
