Not happy with the playline Barbies?

A new Facebook page has been started with the intent of gathering parents' and collectors' opinions on the playline dolls. I don't know exactly what contacts the page owner has at Mattel, but it can't hurt to let them know your opinion.

(Yes, I'm there. Look for the icon of the blue-haired dollieh, she's v.1 of my little Jedi Karan'ah.)

The group is called Make Barbie Pretty Again, in case I've borked the link.

You can tell them about my site DolfieLittles.com and my blog http://dolfielittles.typepad.com/ with my reviews. I don't want to join any groups because I don't like the extra stuff to weed through on FB.

I joined. Pretty much sums up how I feel about Playline right now. Keep the jointed bodies, though. XD Bring back all the other headmolds and most importantly the quality clothing.

It does help that they aren't a "public view" group. If you have to log in to see the page, it diminishes the potential audience you can reach.

Oh and doesn't making Barbie "pretty" lead to all kinds of life-long emotional distress, eating disorders, self esteem and body image issues, gross materialism, gender dysphoria and even cancer? At least playing with GI Joes only made me violent and war-like!

My low self esteem certainly doesn't come from bullying, it's from the Barbies who were my only friends!

Let's see, the first ones I bought lots and lots of were the Teen Skippers, then the 100 Poses/Swappin' Styles to rebody the ones I've had for 20-30 years. Until I got in to customs, and could pay for them, I kept Barbies until they disintegrated. The only non Mattel doll I kept from my child hood was/is Darci. What I didn't like was the guys. Outside of Skate Date Ken, and the one that came with Tommy, I didn't actively look for one until the Generation Girl Liam.

I don't look at her face any more, I look for joints.

This made me giggle. "You only want me for my body? D:" :)

I used to go shopping for outfits for my 27cm Dollfie but I keep running across too much pink. That is my complaint. I got lucky a couple of years back and I was able to find a blue dress, and a fashion closet that had red. Not only was the red my major reason for buying but because there were tops, bottoms (PANTS!), one skirt, one jacket, and I think three different types of shoes, plus the ugly plastic purses that got tossed to the side. I wish they would use more color in general and stop putting the boys in pink, I bet those boy dolls feel like real sissies besides looking like sissies. It's no wonder a lot of parents wont buy the boys and why the girls when they play have the girl dolls substituted for male counterparts. I have seen my 7 year old niece do this as well as my 13 year old step sister when she was 5. lol

Of course, the fact that I like *any* of the new dolls didn't seem to go over well with one of the ladies. Ah well.

Yeah, I guess you have to expect that**...:::rolleyes::: Come on folks, it's not the 'Everything Mattel Does Sucks, Tell Us Why Here' group. That being said, there have been plenty of constructive comments and thoughts that the Big M *really* needs to hear. They can't afford to go all George Lucas and only hear and do what they want to do, not and stay at the top. MGA and Spinmaster would be happy to take advantage of Mattel's shortsightedness.
Sorry someone was snippy about your comments, though. :/ And that your 2.5 had messed up painting.

**Reason #102 why I don't want a 'real' Facebook account. Life has enough drama already, but some people on FB live for it.

That's why my account is for me and Little Walken's is for the dolls.

The last Barbie I looked for a specific face for was the one I turned in to Cybersix, come to find out she reminded me of the Guardian Goddess Moon Mystic I loved to death. Since then I've only bought dolls for my website, Fashionistas with wrists, SiS for their skin tones, 100 Poses, then a Swappin' Styles. Most of it was in a search for a body for my gymnast, the biggest thing then was to make sure they had pivot instead of hinge knees but I'll put up with click knees for wrists. I bought a crapload of Styles when there was a bogo sale but they all lost their heads. I've bought some spare heads but it's all been based on crazy hair colors.

I look at Ken faces but now that I feel better about rerooting and wiping the paint off that isn't even a concern any more.
