Damn, this thing is HUGE!

Barbie, Jenny, Fashion Royalty, Obitsu and 1/6 resins - basically anything 10-12inch/21-27cm or in the neighborhood.

Damn, this thing is HUGE!

Big image warning!

Here are a couple shots of a "play scale" F22 fighter jet that's designed to fit 1/6 scale figures. My wife bought this as a Christmas gift for me several years ago but the damn thing is so big, it's hard to keep it assembled and displayed. It has been in storage for several years and as you can probably see, it's pretty dusty and grungy but as I clean up and make-over my front bedroom, I thought it would be a good chance for me to test potential photo areas and also show some of the old and odd pieces I have in my doll/action figure collection.

Now, it would REALLY be cool if I could find some fighter pilot gear sized for Obitsu 27cm females. (The BBI stuff from way back when is a bit too roomy except for the helmets.)

Awwwwwwww! *_____________*
Maybe you can found something to fit your Obitsu pilot searching the spare parts for Hot Toys and similar 1/6 action figures on eBay, or maybe somewhere there is a Barbie Jet Pilot to be left naked and robbed

Whoa it does take up space. This would make for quite an awesome shoot.

I think I have most of the stuff to "bash" a pilot although it'll be a guy. Looks like I mostly just need to find a pair G-pants and hope nobody groans too much that the gear is US Navy/ Marine Corps and probably out of date by today's standards. (I'm only casually familiar with fighter pilot gear anyway.)

A photo shoot would be cool but I need to find a place that will work for an airfield tarmac. My driveway is paved with that sort of decorative "heavy gravel" finish (I don't know the real name of the style) and the sidewalk out front would be difficult to work on without attracting a lot of potential attention and distraction.

You are in Nawlins, yes?

Anyway, motor race tracks during the week are typically not busy and you could probably just stroll in and set up a shoot. There's plenty of places that would make perfect 1/6 scale runways.

Hang it from the ceiling when you're not actively using it!

@ Misty: Nope, I haven't lived in NOLA for several years. I'm about 100 miles away now but technically still in the neighborhood. That racetrack in Avondale would be pretty cool if I were closer. I'm actually closer to Keesler AFB which would be my ideal location if not for the total unfeasibility of such a shoot. Even the nearby National Guard base, which has the most up-to-date military airfield in the area, is off limits.

I have considered hanging it from the ceiling but I'm concerned about its long-term ability to support its own weight. Also, I want to put a ceiling fan in my front bedroom and both of them won't likely fit. My current solution will probably be to pop off the port wing and maybe horizontal stabilizer and put it on top of one of the display shelves I have in there.

For those of you looking for one of these monsters, it's marked FairLandToy® China and was sold by the catalog/internet arm of US retailer JCPenney for several years during the last decade. I *think* my wife bought this for me in 2003.

Have you looked for a small craft airport? Private planes? That could work.
