An unexpected retrieval (now with photos)

Yesterday my parents emptied an huge wardrobe in my basement in order to move it. When doing this, they found in the bottom two cardboard boxes with my and my sister's old Barbies collection. I searched for them several times before and never found anything, so I was persuaded that all of the dolls were given to my younger cousin. That was a real surprise.
I'm actually happier for the accessories retrieved that I can use for my Obitsus than for the Barbies in themselves. It can sounds as a paradox, but because almost all are in good shape, with perfect preserved face-ups, I don't feel to use them for customization. I'll probably simply wash and restyle all the girls and restore them properly after taking photos (I want to identify my Barbies...)
I have an only one Barbie (but maybe she is a Midge, she is a redhead) that has broken hands, so if someone has a tutorial for changing Barbie's arms it will be really welcomed

That is so cool that you finally did find the dolls. I love some of the older clothing and accessories for Barbie. I am looking forward to seeing photos of them

Isn't that just the best thing ever... finding your old dolls back? I know I loved it. Enjoy your treasure ^^

Pictures! Pictures! Pictures!

And it might be easier to rebody the broken girl and put her body aside if you want to keep it. I upgraded a bunch of my old friends that way.

Here some photos of my washed girls: (there are more to snap, but I haven't much time this days):

Image
She had originally an orange jeans patterned skirt and jacket, overdecorated with blue rhinestones. I still have it, but I didn't found the top and the underskirt of her original dress, and so is explained this simpler orange dress. She's surely one of the oldest Barbies of my collection (if not the oldest), and the only one with chewed hands.

These two are in the most recent ones. They came in a supermarket set with a shopping cart, some toys for Shelly and boxes of goods. Shelly has a magnet in her left hand that make her "take" the goods boxes that have a similar magnet inside. Unfortunately my sister tried some purple hair mascara on Barbie's hair and they remained stained. Anyway, I don't love the hair fiber of this doll... but her red makeup is really pretty.

Sorry for the bad light, but it was evening. The blond is maybe the oldest doll of my collection, she had (and still has) a white puffy sleeves iridescent gown with a pink corset. The brunette came in a set with embossy effect fabric paints and appliqués to personalize her purple jeans trousers and jacket. i have a Barbie of the same series too. Me and my sister were really tiny when we had that gift, and we messed a bit. My mother had to paint all the trousers with yellow paint in order to hide some stains.

Image
How I hated the white legs and molded shoes of this ballerina! But anyway is really pretty, even if the dress has suffered from time passing.

The two girls in the towel look so happy to be getting a bath. Hehe. I like all your girls. You could always rebody the doll with the white legs. :D

That's because I snapped them, even if the ligh was so scarce ^_-
I'm intentioned to leave all my old Barbies as they are, for a "documentary" value. And because they're property of my sister too and she is not enthusiastic about any modification ^_^'

You can get a replacement body for the one in orange no problem, they still put out bent arm dolls. I have the same Barbie and Kelly too.

Keeping them whole for documentary purposes is a nice idea but there's someone out there with an MIB example and rebodying them wouldn't do any harm, no one looks uber rare. Just do what their owner feels best.

The Barbie and Kelly sent me back in time as I remember them. I'm just barely remembering the commercial now of Kelly swiping things :P
