You Know It's Funny....

As many times as I have looked at some of my Barbies I never noticed till now that I actually have several Lara/Drew sculpt dolls. Here I am going mad over the lack of a perfect RH FF Drew and I have several Barbies of various hair colors that are basically her sisters, give or take a bit of face paint. But for some reason none of these dolls are "Drew" to me, not even the Basics ones though I suppose they're closer to FF Drew than some others. At least she's a redhead, albeit a redhead far too sophisticated for the "Drew" Barbie I kind of fell in love with.

THIS is FF Drew...

With freckles, like mine...(Mine is currently wigged brunette out of necessity. It's the only wig I have that will cover some permanent ink spots on her forehead. Not even zit cream worked with her unfortunately, but I am going to re-root her back to red, only with bangs, someday because she is so NOT a brunette that girl...)

I pretty much covet any Drew I can get my hands on though I'm fond of the Drew with freckles. She's rather Midge-like and I'm a major Midge fan since I first started collecting Barbies. Isn't it weird though how you get stuck on a particular version of a doll and how that one becomes such and such a character to you? I actually have an older Summer doll that used the same sculpt, a blond with purple streaks in her hair, and both of my Rebelde Roberta dolls are actually Lara/Drew sculpt too.

The funny thing is? I never even noticed until I went to fix their lips. I got both of them at Goodwill in the same bin like a year ago and whatever kid had them had totally messed up their lips for some reason, scratched out the white part of the smile and half the lip paint besides. A year almost they've been in my re-do box. That's sad because they are very pretty dolls both of them and being as they are related in a way to my Drew they should have been out there on the shelf with her.

They will be shortly. They're not perfectly repainted by any means but they're as done as I can get them and as soon as they are dry I'm going to put together a little display with some of my Lara/Drew girls. Looking at the blond I'm thinking maybe I should repaint her and re-root her red too. Make an OOAK Drew out of her maybe, smile. She's kind of bland as she is anyway. With a little alteration I bet I could make her look a lot like those pics above and why not? It's not like I'm going to spend $45 on a brand new one, that's for sure...
