Moxie Scene

Postby kittyasauras » Fri Feb 24, 2012 5:02 pm

My Teenz? I don't know. (I don't like the 'z' replaced 's' so I'm rolling with Moxie Scene)

Love love love the moxie bodies but dislike the heads. (they can look nice but need work) So I took a head that I had lying around, just to see what it would look like... It happened to be a My Scene Nolee (? idk) she looked wonderful! After I got rid of the hooker lips she looked even better. She'll be fully repainted one day when the weather is better.

I ended up buying a Bijou on clearance also and found a NIB Madison on ebay. Did the same thing. Only I absolutely love the Madison. She's from '02 and her facepaint looks so much different from the Nolee. The skin match is not 100% perfect, but it's close, so I'm happy. It looks worse in the photos.

They make really great hybrids, limited head movement (but the moxies are like that anyway) but so pretty. Really love these girls!

Funny, I hate the Moxie Teenz bodies... For me it's the other way around lol, I only like their heads! ^^

I like the bodies for their look, so tall with long legs. But they don't pose nearly as well as I'd like.

I don't like the heads because to me it looks like they don't have enough 'head'. Their face is really big for their head, if that even makes any sense at all. lol

The light skinned one matches perfectly, I think it's a Nolee head on a Tristan body, not 100% sure though.

@kittyasauras: That's funny, I don't like Moxie Teen heads too, but I'd said that's because they seems to me too "round" and somewhat unnatural XD Maybe is because they really have too much "face" for their head size!Anyway, My Scene heads are a really good match, now I like a lot their proportion!

@Wardah: I stuck the heads on the my scene bodies and let my son play with them! LOL He doesn't really care much for them, he prefers the dolls that have hair. xD I'm pretty sure the Tristan head has scuffs on her face from him dragging her around, I know that also I cut a hole in her head so that she could wear liv wigs. Are you interested in them?

I've got a whole big storage crate full of My Scene dolls. While I am not willing to sacrifice my MT's for them I am going to start grabbing the ones I really like some better bodies and I'll probably sell off some, downsize. I've pretty much got most of my best Barbies on articulated bodies now. I guess it's time I started doing the same for some of my MS and my Bratz. I've got a bunch of Barbie-Bratz hybrids on older Barbie bodies. I actually like their heads on bigger bodies anyhow. I have one small collection of Bratz on the original bodies that will stay but the rest will become hybrids with articulated bodies eventually. I like the Liv and Fashionista bodies better. They don't seem to break down over time the way the old Barbie bodies do.

I've had one too many Barbie bodies leaking chemicals lately. I'm not too impressed with the older bodies of Mattel toys in general. I just had to throw out my third Teen Trends doll because of slimy legs. I love their clothes but it seems like every time I get one of those they just disintegrate sitting on the shelf and I'm not abusing them by putting them in the sun or anything.

Eventually I'd like a slightly smaller collection of dolls all out and on display and all on good bodies. I'm ready to downsize on the little dolls I think. I have 5 crates of Barbie dolls currently not out on display. At least 3 crates bigger dolls of various kinds. Several hundred dolls in addition to the 75 or so dolls that I always keep out. I'd need a whole room devoted to just dolls to show them all off at this point.

I've actually been thinking of just popping all the doll heads off the Barbies that have articulated bodies that can match the common skin tones. I may just keep the heads in a segmented storage box like I do their shoes and just swap out the heads sometimes. Sounds weird I know but I could do that. Get a set of secondary articulated bodies just for doing that, for swapping the dolls. There are certain dolls I never put away but I could do that with the rest and that would cut down on how many dolls I'm storing by a lot. Eventually they're only going to leak plasticizer anyhow. The other kind will likely yellow over time, but I can deal with that a lot better than taking a doll out to dress and display it only to find it slimes me when I pick it up. I really hate that.

I really wish Mattel would start making a really dark Fashionista. I'd love to be able to rebody all my darker AA girls the way I have my lighter ones. I've got older Nikki's and Christies and such that are just lovely. They're just begging for articulated bodies and I can't find anything to match them that doesn't cost $40 a pop.

I'm actually going to miss the MT's a lot. I still want to get an Arizona and a Bijou some day soon to complete my collection. But they're too hard to get here for me to use their bodies for other dolls. I tried one on a Liv body just to see though and I don't think I like that match up very much. Their heads are a little big on the MT bodies. Put them on a Liv body and they just look out of balance to me. I don't mind their bodies really but I don't think I'd like any other head on them. They're just so stylized compared to other dolls I think anything else would look a little odd.

Interesting experiment above and it made me smile because I always like to see MS dolls whenever they pop up. But honestly I don't think I really like the combo. MS dolls on Liv bodies or Fashionista bodies, oh yeah, but the MT bodies they just seem a bit wrong to me. But they're your dolls and whatever works for you is fine by me. One of my friends is a huge Bratz fan. She can't stand their heads on Barbie bodies. I used to laugh at her but seeing that pic above I think I get her now. There is just something about other dolls on MT bodies that is just really not working for me. About the only MT hybrid I've seen and liked so far is a Blythe/MT doll combo...

You looking for darker articulated Fashionista type bodies? Mattel is going to be making a set with articulation in their So In Style line.
