My dolls living room and a Cy girl

Postby MitisFeles » Thu Mar 01, 2012 10:55 am

Hi all!

Image

I started some time ago to make a living room on my dolls shelf, inspired by some jewelbox shaped as sofa and armchairs in doll size that are becoming very common in my favorite houseware shop. It still lack a lot of details (I want to do a background panel with fake windows and curtains, and add a tea-table with a tea set, off course) but I'm posting a picture anyway, to show my new arrival: a TTL Cool (or Cy) Girl.

I ordered her hoping her skintone will match the Tanya Black Moon one, to gave the latter an articulate body, but she didn't... this CY girl seems to be very close to Volks Natural, while Tanya Black Moon is only a shade pinker that Obitsu white, so she doesn't match well WS but she's also too white to match NS -_-
So, I was going to keep my CY as she was, but... the head. Even if the head she has in the photo is supposed to be her original, factory ones, is oddly small for such a body Oo If I put her hand on her face, it will totally cover her head! So, when I'll have some money, I'll order a prerooted Obitsu head, hoping to have better proportions...

That's a neat looking set and your TTL girl looks just fine in the photo. I've been meaning to buy one or two of these myself but I'm not really sure what I want to do with them. I will note that I have a few of the older BBI/Takara CG 2.0 bodies that the TTL bodies appear to be based on. This is a matter of personal opinion but to me, Obitsu heads are an odd fit on those bodies. I find that the combination of Obitsu head and CG-style body reminds me of those G Taste illustrations where the girls have exaggerated breasts, butt and thighs with tiny heads.

T_T That's exactly the look I want to avoid! When she is sit, with this dark outfit masking her body, and from that angle, her factory head seems okay, but I can assure you that when I opened her package and saw for the first time her detached head, my first thought was: "How is this head supposed to fit this body?" T_T And that impression grown more and more when I set it on the body...and that's really a pity because her face-up is pretty and well done, even if a bit masculine!
I hoped that an Obitsu head can be a solution, but stating your information, it is not... maybe a Barbie head? I have to find a pale closed lips one, in my spare Barbie heads only a My Scene match the Cy skin tone and her head is really too big -_-

Anyway, the Cy body gave me a really good impression. It is solid and well posable. Compared to Obitsu girls a Cy seems a Valkyrie, but she's not totally out of scale. She seems just taller and atletic, not a giantess.

Hey, this living room on the shelf is starting looking cozy! :) Is the left chair similar to the right one? A low table in the middle will look great! A few days ago I received the plexiglass showcase I needed to make my dioramas, I'm making two living rooms too but one is more ancient while the other will be that of a spaceship...let's see what will came out! XD
I saw some room boxes and dioramas on flickr that were great because they had "real" windows (not only drawn or the background but 3D) I'd really like to know where they buy them, if I find them I'll tell you!
In case you need a carpet (I took the black one) XD http://www.ebay.it/sch/Altro-/162/i.htm ... 11.c0.m282
I'm sorry for this problem with the CY...actually I saw they have pretty small heads and big shoulders from pictures (this is why I told you they have a too muscular body for my OCs) I thought you noticed it too but that wasn't a problem for you. This effect probably is increased because she's next to other dolls that have a quite big head (compared to natural proportions). Anyhow I have to say with that dress and haircut she really looks great! *_*
Anyhow if the dolls displayed by Dolls Figure really are Obitsu heads on CY bodies they should look more proportioned. If you want to make a comparison with an head you have: the F02 obitsu head is of the same size of the fairy one (the obitsu fairy face slightly larger)

@Nko: Those carpet are pure awesomeness, even if a bit pricey! I'll think about them!
The two armchairs are identical, a friend of mine gifted me a third but I haven't room to place it T_T
I was intentioned to build the windows by myself, now that I have a mini dremel to cut and shape wooden stick and some plexiglass to simulate the windows glasses. My intention is to have the possibility to change the printed fake landscape under the windows, so I can simulate the alternate seasons. I don't have enough space for more than one diorama, even if i'd really love to reproduce a medieval inn, so I'll try to do my best on this one!

You're probably right about the "small head effect" amplified by obitsus's nearness. Anyway, now that I discovered that CY girls, if well dressed, are not so out of scale compared to my other dolls I want to try all that's possible to made her "conform" to the other girls, and not a "one of her own" doll. I'll follow your advice and try my Obitsu Fairy head on the Cy body, if it's so close to F02 head.
The funny thing it's that the My Scene head I tried matched terribly well her hands size, so now I'm at the same time tempted to adapt the My Scene head and create another anime looking hybrid doll...

Suigintuo!!!!! Would love to get that dress for my Kula 25cm gal. By any chance you have more shots of her?

I have 3 Amazonian Cy girl hybrids with the 4th one on the way of moving back to being amazonian since being a skinny Obitsu didn't work well for her.

My Amazons are a Volks Neo Goh N03 (the bishi not the dude) and Obitsu Slim Male 02. There are some folks out there that do a really good job on said heads and make them look feminine. I prefer said heads over the cygirl defaults on account how they look like the softer version of cygirl heads, visually less edgier for some reason (me thinks its the less prominent cheek bones).

the Obitsu slim male 02 head and the Volks Neo Goh 03.

for demo purpose. My other Obi W02 had a temp stint on the cygirl body before becoming a permanent Obi

I really like the furniture! Some hobby stores sell predone dollhouse windows, wallpaper, and even props.
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.

@Dee Dee Steele: Yes they're not cheap.. another idea I had before finding those in Italy (if you search mouse carpet rug you'll find tons on ebay) was of printing one of paper myself, it's not the same as fabric but on such a small thing I think it could look fine too.
If you manage to make those wooden windows I'll probably commission you one! Yes I want the background out of the "spaceship" being changeable too even if as the shape is going to be strange and occupy also part of the lateral sides of the box I have no idea about how to do that! ^^'
There's this girl on Flickr that makes cool dioramas, this is not medieval but I liked the idea of painting those (probably originally pink and glittered) items in black, especially the background ones: http://www.flickr.com/photos/carole_anne/4995214522/
Also I have no place too (to find a place to these two dioramas I had to remove a stereo radio) but I have some "foldable" ones that I put on only to take pictures.

Maybe you can try the Obitsu head to make her like the other girls and if you really see that size won't work at all, you can put her the my Scene one to have a different doll!
Btw today I found your Tanya black moon in a shop but the seller told be there's no chance to get the liliac one...sorry! :(

@Gift_in_Edge: Yes I saw some on internet and on shops catalogues but all the acessories I can find are in the 1:12 scale so the windows will look really tiny, I was thinking I could use a glass door of that size as a window if I find one...

Sure! I got the dress for half price from a girl that ordered it accidentally, thinking it was the entire doll and not just the outfit.

More in my Flickr... It' really hard to pose Kiriane with this dress, is so puff and bulky!

Returning to main topic, thanks very much Iwa for your comparison and thanks for sharing that site with those stunning beautiful face-up! I really like the Slim Male 02 head effect on the Cy body, seems the right solution to my problems and it's easier for me to get one of them from Mimiwoo than a Volks head.

@Gif: Thank you! I've seen a bedroom set too (with dresser, closet and bed) in black velvet but I hadn't enough money with me at the time and I never found it again T_T

@Nko: I'll let you know how the windows experiment goes! Talking about carpet, I was thinking instead about cutting one from fitting cloth, (the hard part is find this "fitting cloth") or maybe use some black nubuk and paint on it the decorations.
These repainted item looks so cool, remind me some Barbie houses repainted to fit Monster's High someone posted here!Make me tempted to free my library from Witch dolls and create here a bedroom...
And T_T for the lilac Tanya Black Moon... you know, I hoped to have both sisters...

Mott's has some playscale building elements. Not a lot, but it's nice to see any at all! :)
