Advice on Volks 1\6

I am thinking about getting some Folks 1\6 dolls during their upcoming website sale.
I've read that they are not as sturdy as Obitsus and with the 1\6 line discontinued, I would not be able to replace broken parts. Someone recently posted pics of a Neo Guy with an exploding waist joint!
I'd like some owner reviews and advice. Should I just save my money for some Obitsus? I like a few of their finished dolls, and was thinking of getting spare bodies as well.
Thanks,
Eseme

I have both Volks and Obitsu, and there are merits to both. Obitsu can't be beat for the ability to hold a pose. The Volks bodies are beautiful and, originally, came in tan as well as normal and white. On the downside, Obitsu tend to fall apart fairly easily (and go back together just as easily) and Volks are a bit...floppy, I guess. Obitsu can stand unassisted, Volks can't. Volks is all hard plastic, Obitsu has portions of the body that are soft vinyl that stains with horrid ease. Even the "hard bust" Obitsu has soft vinyl hands which pick up the least little bit of stain or dirt unless you seal them right out of the package.
Hope this helps!

Can someone tell me a little more about this sale? I don't see anything on VolksUSA.... (Also, they're discontinuing the ENTIRE 1/6 line?! I think buying up some freaking heads is in order *horrified*).
Okay, Volks and Obitsu,
embyquinn mentioned a lot of good points, but I'll add my two cents here. For me, basically Volks vs Obitsu is a matter of "sturdy" versus "style". Yeah, no doubt the Volks Neo Goh guy looks a hell of a lot better without clothes than the Obitsu bodies, making him especially good for those strapping young male characters that show chest/abs/etc. If your characters or customizing is going to lean in that direction, I'd grab a few. Female options are a little more even, it's just a choice of aesthetics because both offer around the same amount of articulation.
Volks is pretty "floppy", but many dolls can't stand without the aid of a doll stand, so if your customs are really leaning in the direction of a Volks, don't be afraid of them!

I had both Obitsu and Volks dolls. I never had any of them exploding on me. My Volks guys could stand by themselves if position right. Volks has discontinued their entire 1/6 line. That's what I heard from someone in Japan.

I have both and I only had to replace 1 Goh body because I broke the ankle peg swapping feet, something that wouldn't even need to be done now. They've all loosened up, some slump, no once cares. I treat my dolls very carefully and don't knowingly stress the joints. No one has exploded at the waist. I've even unscrewed a few of them and put them back together without problems.
If you're careful with your dolls and don't have a habit of things breaking around you then you should do fine. Normal/natural and white will hybrid with Obitsu, the light Goh works with Obitsu Normal. Just make sure you have a matching head. The hair is softer than soft. Guy color is a weird orange almost fake looking "tan". The tan color is lovely.

Ha, ha, ha typos on my tablet. In my post above, I meant Volks dolls, but autocorrect thinks I meant folks...
From what I recall the 1\6 line was discontinued around 2-3 years ago, which is why most bodies for sale note that they are discontinued and will not be restocked in red.
There is a post in the 2014 doll news thread in Dollieh Chatter about the sale, and it is on the Volks USA Facebook and blog.

I only have one Volks (27cm EB-Beauty female) and two Obitsus (25cm and 27cm SBH) so I'm by no means an expert, but I'd say Volks is definitely the more elegant body. The elbows and hands of the Volks keep falling off all the time (I hear this is a comon problem) but then again one of the obitsus keeps coming apart at the waist too.
My main reason for choosing one over the other is mainly skin tone matching: obitsu normal is more of a bright peach shade, while my Volks is a more neutral beige. The volks sale is bad news for me since I'm confined to the international shop. :/
