Singing Disney Princesses 17" Dolls with Custom Outfits

Postby SetsunaKou » Fri Jan 06, 2012 4:43 pm

Hi Everyone!!!

For my birthday this year, (in late Nov) my sister and I made the Disney Princess 17" dolls their Princess gowns. (For those who didn't come with it.) I'm very peculiar in that I MUST have all characters in a set be in the same type of outfit. Not half princess gowns and the other half in their casual/peasant outfits.

All or nothing for me. (We also just did the same thing for Christmas for my 21" Princess plushies. Ariel is hilarious---her tail is bound up in pink underneath her gown!! :laughs: )
Anyway, so, we had to make Rapunzel, Jasmine, Ariel, Pocahontas and partial Mulan's princess outfits!!

While we were at it, I decided to put eyelashes on all the girls, even the ones that we didn't have to make gowns for. I think it really livened them up and made them really look gorgeous!!
These are my favorite Disney princess dolls, as they actually look like the characters (well, except for Cinderella. She doesn't look much like her face or hair color in my opinion. I prefer the Mattel face for her.) and they SING!!!!!! Wheee!!!!!!

On to the photos!!!!!!

Princess Aurora: (In purples, as I prefer her that way. ^^)

This is Rapunzel BEFORE we cut off her long blonde hair. My sister insisted on taking photos of her this way, too, since it's now gone forever. ^^

0_0 as usual you guys are totally awesome!! :D I mean really wow! They all look amazing, especially Pocahontas, her dress is beyond beautiful. I love Ariel's too, the puffed sleeves are layered! And her dress is layered wonderfully too. Jasmine is lovely, and she must have been so hard to choose an outfit for, she seems to have so many, in so many different colors(it might just be me, but I kinda feel like she has the most costume changes out of all the princesses).

Rapunzel is so cute! I love that you gave her the short brown hair, though I must admit I do love her with the blonde hair too, it doesn't really work when that hair only goes to her waist, they should have made her hair way longer(though I can see why they wouldn't). And Aurora is lovely as ever, I like her a lot in purple, it seems like the perfect compromise, and somehow it just fits her more. Is she wearing an under skirt? Is that how it's all puffed out?

Totally love your photos. I am glad to see that I am not the only person sewing outfits for their Singing Disney dolls. I love sewing them new outfits but the only thing is that I don't know how to make my own patterns. My drawing skills aren't the best so I have to rely on Gene patterns with modifications. I too like yourself, hope to make everyone in princess outfits. I just have two questions; 1) What shoes is Rapunzel wearing? Tonner? 2) How do you make piercings for ears? Thanks in advance.

Awww, thanks soooo much, everyone!! :hugs to all: I'm so happy you like them!!!! I am finally at ease now that they're all in Princess garb!!!!! :) Your kind words really make my day!!! THANK YOU!!!!!! I love these dolls because they actually look like the princesses, they're 17" tall AND THEY SING! Almost their whole song, too, not just a phrase. ^^
The only one I don't like is Cinderella----I don't think it looks like her at all. Her hair is MUCH too platinum (I mean, for heaven's sake! In the movie it was ORANGE!!! She was a strawberry blonde at best!) and her face isn't accurate. The Mattel face mold is just like Cinderella's face, but of course, they don't make a 17" Cinderella doll that sings, so I have to put up with the Disney Store version. ^^ She's okay but......for my 1/6 set, I opted for the Mattel Cinderella. (And all the rest are the beautiful Disney Store girls again. I wonder why they don't fix Cindy! They revamped Belle and Jasmine (though I prefer the old Jasmine, thank goodness I have her!) but ignored Cinderella, who actually needed to be redone?!?

Ah well, at least Aurora is lovely! I really like this sculpt for her!!!

Britbrat-san, yes, Aurora has a tulle petticoat underneath to give her lift and also, she's got a 2 full 'circle' skirt designs for a full skirt look.

djhirokun, the shoes are from 'Facets by Marcia.' I absolutely recommend her! She's ultra fast and has so many styles and also wigs by Monique!! I buy from her almost every month or more.

Rapunzel is wearing the 'My Fair Lady' in purple (though they're really 'wine' colored, which is what I wanted for Rapunzel!! YAY!) while Pocahontas and Ariel have the 'court/period pumps' in taupe and pink.
