Manouche (Planet Doll Tara)

Postby cirquemom » Thu May 27, 2010 10:07 am

When I first saw Planet Dolls I really didn't like them, but after seeing owner pix they kind of grew on me. My excuse for this doll is that the woman putting together the Art of the Doll show at the Petaluma Art Center wanted an ethnic-looking doll in the display. This is a tan Planet Doll Tara. She's actually a bit darker than how she photographs here.

Very hard to find black curly hair, for some reason. I searched and searched and finally found this Monique wig. After I velcro it, I'll style it to frame her face more.

Image
She "borrowed" these clothes because she doesn't have any of her own. When I get a little time I'll make her a gypsy outfit.

Image
Planetdoll faces are very expressive; a little on the sulky side.

And...find the kitty.

Oh that's a nice wig on her :) I'm sure she doesn't mind the borrowed clothing - but now you'll have to sew something custom for her soon!

She looks adorable in those clothes. But I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Oooooh - MSD sized PlanetDolls . . . . . . Do they fit into standard MSD size clothes? I ask because the 27cm minis are a bit difficult to find clothing for.

I would say they are on the larger side. So they would probably fit clothes that fit Volks MSD, Iplehouse, any of the larger dolls. Definitely would not fit slim clothes, like for Minifee, Unoa, etc.

Yah, they've got more of a childish figure so they fit into larger MSD stuff and can also wear the large BFC Ink clothes

I am so taken by PlanetDoll - sure their ball joints are pretty darn basic, but their faces are so beautifully expressive. I would keep both my mini-Renee and mini-Riz if I wasn't determined to have a Pukifee by the end of the year!

She's adorable! Then again I DO have a weakness for sulkies :)
How fun that you're going to get to display her at Art of the Doll! I wanted so much to be a part of that but couldn't make it to the west coast.

More pictures! She is cute. Gracefairie Designs has patterns that fit her! Hmmm. Maybe I should make something for you?
