I think it would have worked just fine if they had not given her such a gray skin tone. In good light it's really not too bad. It looks a fair bit lighter and not as gray. Sort of like those alabaster jars they used in royal tombs in Egypt. But if she's in normal to darkish light she looks like a cold corpse straight from a freezer sitting on a table waiting for an autopsy. I've seen a few repaints now where the person doing them has pinked up her skin or whitened it and it looks much better.

From what I can tell Lady Onyx's skin tone is more blue white than gray and OBTS is more pink. They did pale again but they didn't do that particular color again. The mannequin to me looks a bit less gray too. If they had given her one of those skin colors I think she would have worked very well and been a lot more favored by Delilah collectors. The outfit is pretty outstanding actually and I love the face up and the wig. I don't mind the black lips. I just don't like the gray-brown cold corpse tone of her skin. Pallid is one thing, totally corpse-like is another, though for my own crew, it does fit her persona, and the whole morbid Black Dahlia thing I've got going on with her. Here in my house she's an Un-Dead Delilah so looking like a corpse is okay a bit, lol...

I've actually thought of making her deliberately a bit more corpse-like and of doing some black flowers on her face and maybe on an arm down into a hand or something but I'm not quite sure I could manage that freehand. Maybe with a stencil to start me. Something about her makes me want to go with it though. I've also thought of adding green pigment to her skin. Making her look totally inhuman and going the Monster route. She does rather have the right skin tone base for one of Frankenstein's creations. A little green, some stitches, a little more eye makeup and she could be a She-Monster, no problem...
