my daughter has a volks dd2the bigger version. she got it second hand in a trade like early 2009 it has been wrapped in luggage with a ton of other stuff when we moved to costa rica in a checked duffle bag, packed quickly in another bag for a move from santana to heredia in a moving truck, posed tons, the doll was previously painted and she has taken it apart many times for scrubbing and cleaning all parts are good and solid, i am not sure about how fragile and prone to breaking the volks dolls are supposed to be as i can only speak for hers that is built tough as nails with the abuse that doll had previously suffered before she ever got it and looks great. she plans on getting a mdd in the future as she loves the body sculpt. she plans to buy he dd2 a new bust in the future as she wants to get her the large bust and is considering a coolcat neck upgrade for better neck poseing.

but for superior posing and such the obitsu might be a better choice pluse you can order it from junky spot with extra goodies.

Thanks AmberRose I will be getting a 40cm obitsu from JS l just wanted to know about the MDD's ect. I'v done some research on the DD2 bodys and the size is not for me so l'm sticking with 50cm and under.

MDDs, while being very aesthetically pleasing, suffer from weak joints and do not hold poses very well. This includes simply standing up by themselves. My little girl Pinky started life as a pure MDD (with a Haruka head) but it wasn't very long till I discovered her posing problems. I even wrote Volks about the possibility of tightening the joints or some thing to keep her from collapsing under her own weight. Their reply was to use a doll stand. I ended up replacing Pinky's skeleton with Obitsu 50cm skeleton parts. Now she poses like a dream but still looks like an MDD on the outside. With the 40cm out, there's no need to go to such extremes anymore.
Also there are limited MDD vinyl parts available (busts and hands) and no internal replacement parts available.

Yes, it is possible to put a MDD head on an Obitsu body. I believe I have a tutorial somewhere...

Volks Normal matches Obitsu White Skin. It is not a dead on exact match (heck, different batches from Obitsu don't match exactly sometimes) but it is close enough to be unnoticeable.

The 40cm neck piece is slightly shorter but would work the exact same way as the one shown in the tutorial.

I just got Hazuki a pair of 18mm glass eyes in dark blue from e-bay. Now if only l could find a wig that's the right color.

In 3 days l will be ordering Hazuki from JS. Hey K2 do you know were l can find pictures of a obitsu 40cm with the obitsu 50cm medium bust and with the obitsu 50cm head (the one that comes with the 50cm body) please. I found some but l'm interesting seeing more ect.
