Dollieh Sanctuary

One of my highly desired dolls arrived today - Obitsu MSD size 42 cm tall. She was ordered directly from Japan (Parabox) and even with the custom charges (£27) she was much cheaper than ordering from the dealers.

I am an owner of five 1/6 scale obitsu dolls and was very curious whether the bigger version will offer the same posability.






I have ordered 2 heads for this doll and both of them were so easy to attach. I did not need to heat or boil the heads in order to fit them.





The first impression is positive, especially the magnetic plate (same as for smaller obitsu) gives a doll instant stability, however does not allow a one leg stand pose, like in 1/6 scale. The MSD size obitsu is too heavy for this trick.

I thought a brief comparison between resin BJD and Obitsu would be interesting.

Important thing for me that Obitsu can act as a support for other dolls when I need to pose them together! This is a helpful feature I will be definitely using during photo-shoots.






These two are very different dolls, but I am very pleased to have Obitsu of that size now. I need to find a suitable masculine male candidate for my new arrival... Any suggestions welcome.

Obitsu does made a 55cm male! Or I believe you can go with a 48cm female and buy a male chest piece. That's one of the joys of obitsu- convertibility!

I found that male obitsu are not very mature looking: face and body.

Congrats for the new arrival! Is she a Gretel? I was really tempted to get one to upgrade the character shelled in my little S-Gretel to MSD size, but I was distracted by other doll plans ^^' Thank you very much for the comparison, I always wondered how they looked with resin dolls. ^_^

Oh, you're right. She isn't using the plate stand.

Oh, you're right. She isn't using the plate stand.

There is no need to be sarky. it's completely inappropriate. I am glad your doll can stand like that, because mine can't: with or without the plate.

Yes, its a Gretel head, I think she is very cute. I've "face-d" her up as well:

Your doll can probably stand on one foot too. It's all a matter of balance. While the plate and magnetic feet, along with the firm jointing, do provide some measure of stability, the doll's weight still has to be distributed over its center of gravity. Just as you would fall over if you lifted one leg without shifting your weight, so must the doll's weight be adjusted. Try it. With a little practice you'll have your girl doing all sorts of seemingly "out of balance" poses.
Although I wouldn't recommend these sorts of poses be done for long term storage or without supervision.
