Need help with 40cm, 48cm & 50cm obitsu girl bodies!

Postby Kittywolf13 » Mon Mar 14, 2016 9:54 pm

So I just ordered a 40 & 49cm girl body to go with my 50cm body. (I also have an old style 45-50cm obitsu body in the mix with the round joints but my concern is with the others.)

First I can't seem to get any neck piece to work with any doll. Second I can't seem to swap heads like I originally thought I could? I have a Luna head, an old sleeping princess head, misuzu, mizuki and kanna head. They are all listed under the same sizes... I can't seem to get the neck piece whether with heat or force. And once on they don't seem to fit on the neck piece of the body at all. I'm really frustrated and not sure what to do. :(

Want: Gretel, Sleeping Princess oe, Alice, and maybe the 55cm boy with the original head. XD

This sounds like a job for K2!!!

Seriously, he'll probably read this tomorrow and have some suggestions. I'm very surprised though that you are having trouble with the neck pieces as they usually slide right into the neck without any issues. Is your problem putting them into the neck, or into the head?

I had a similar issue with the smaller anime head ai-chan When the hair dryer got the vinyl warm the neck went in but the neck joint spring/mechanism was stuck tight. I fixed the problem by carefully removing the screw in the neck joint and disassembled the plastic and spring be careful if you go this route. I put a little clear grease on the plastic and it worked fine after that. Just be very very careful if you do this because it fits one way and the screw could round out in the neck "IF" you screw it in too tight.

Good luck and hope you can get everything situated with little to no more headaches.

As Greyhaunt stated hopefully K2 has a better idea on this. He has a pretty cool army of these. They're all cuties!

QUICK ANSWER:
It sounds like the neck joint part of the chest piece (inside the vinyl of the neck) may be bent to one side and is not lining up with the neck piece when inserted in the neck vinyl. Look in the top of the neck and verify that the neck attachment part is centered in the vinyl, pointing straight up towards the top of the neck. If it isn’t you can squeeze the neck and move the attachment to center it as shown below.
Image
Grasp the head and neck piece assembly and fit the neck piece into the top of the neck vinyl. Gently push the head/neck piece down till it encounters the neck attachment. You might have to wiggle the head/neck piece around a little to get it to seat properly on the attachment. Once you feel the connection is made you can push the head/neck piece down the rest of the way.

THE VERBOSE ANSWER:
Kittywolf13 wrote:So I just ordered a 40 & 49cm girl body to go with my 50cm body. (I also have an old style 45-50cm obitsu body in the mix with the round joints but my concern is with the others.)

All the 40cm through 50cm Obitsu (and Parabox/Obitsu) bodies use essentially the same parts. The difference being the length of the "bones" between the joints. In the smaller sizes some of these bones are molded directly to the joint part, hence the different leg parts shown on the Parabox site. The 40cm through 47cm and 49cm parts are made by Obitsu for Parabox.

First I can't seem to get any neck piece to work with any doll. Second I can't seem to swap heads like I originally thought I could? There are 2 versions of the new style neck piece and their difference is their length. If you bought a 40-50cm body from Parabox it should come with the shorter version of the new style neck piece. The longer new style neck piece is made for 55cm, 60cm, and 65cm bodies.
This image shows the relative length of the two neck pieces.

If you're having trouble getting the neck piece in the head, check out this tutorial:

If you're having trouble getting the neck piece to seat in the body (neck vinyl), check out this tutorial. This second tutorial is about replacing chest/bust parts but it does detail head removal and replacement.
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1432

You should be able to swap heads easily enough just by pulling the neck piece/head off of the body. As always I recommend having a separate neck piece for each head you wish to use and leave that neck piece attached to the head. The new style neck piece will hold the head on very securely but can be a real pain to attach properly. You can save yourself hours of frustration by leaving a neck piece attached to each head.

If you are having a different issue, please PM me.

I'm having issues seating the neck piece inside of the head. I can't get it to click onto the excess vinyl to hold it in place. And that in turn makes it too short to go on the neck piece. I knew about having to align the neck hole with the neck peg. I looked on parabox to see if maybe I had the wrong neck piece but they only sell one? Maybe that's my issue though? Not sure. It's 40, 49 and 50cm bodies with the heads mentioned above. Yes I agree keeping the neck piece on is the easiest route. I just can't take the neck piece out of the one head I wanted to use because it's on an older style neck holder and won't work on the newer bodies. :( I might end up having to buy more heads just to avoid the hasle. (Not even cutting a slit into one side helped.) but I still have an issue of the neck piece not clipping in place to hold the head. The vinyl just seems slip around it and I end up just slipping the piece all the way through. I'll check out the tutorials when I get home thiugh and see if they mentioned anything I haven't tried.

This tutorial helped me get the heads properly onto 2 of my bigger obitsus (the third was a a Hujoo head, so I used a different method altogether - then found a good tutorial for that, too, which would have been better  )

Okay, that's a bit clearer description of your issue. Look at the neck piece tutorial and see if that helps. viewtopic.php?f=32&t=66

If the head has been on the neck piece as the one on the right in the image below, the slot in the head can become enlarged and deformed.
Image
When the vinyl isn't seated under the collar, the slot spreads out, enlarging the slot. This can make getting the vinyl tucked under the collar more difficult. If the slot in the head has become deformed, heat it up with your hair drier for a while. Once it gets nice and flexible, squeeze the sides of the head just above the neck hole so the slot is reformed. The right and left sides of the slot should be parallel and not bowing out. Hold the head like this while it cools. This can help "reform" the shape of the slot closer to its original shape.
Also it might be worth while to have that second pair of hands to help you. Don't be discouraged. It seems like just about everyone has had problems seating this neck piece properly.

I knew about having to align the neck hole with the neck peg.

Good. I couldn't quite tell from your first description of the problem.

Obitsu is discontinuing the old style neck piece (the one with the big tab and the slotted ring that slips over it). The old style neck piece is too tight a fit in some of the heads you've mentioned and was never sold with the 40cm to 50cm bodies. There is only one style of neck piece now but it does come in two lengths, so if you buy more make sure you buy the right one. You want the shorter one, part number 50RP-F01WP-21. All the heads you mentioned were meant to use the 50RP-F01WP-21.

First off thanks for all the help thus far!

The old neck piece im referring to is a longer one, pictured in your tutorial with the ribs. (not the one with the doughnut and turn key. i have one of those also and it never works and stays closed on that doll which is an OLD 60cm obitsu boy, well female with male torso) Also the issue im having is just like the picture above, where the vinyl is splaying out too far to be tucked under the snappy top bit of the neck piece. These are brand new heads and one old one. they all have this issue. :( I think i will try this again closer to the weekend when i have time, and maybe help and pliers like you said in the tutorial. Because if not i will just buy a new head and neck pieces.... but it seems silly when i already have a head im not useing. LOL
