on another forum I got involved in a search for 1/4 scale weapons because one of the members is doing up one of her dolls to look like a 1930's Gangster's Moll :o

surprisingly I did find a couple of sources for 1/4 scale weapons covering WW2 and later

very nice collection of scale swords and daggers :D .... I'd love to find a source to get a medieval period sword in 1/3 scale for Mio ... I'm suspecting I will have to contact one of the list of places I know of that makes real ones and try to get them to make one of the proper scale

I can easily recognize the M16A1 with the M203 slung under it ... I was qualified on both when I was in the Army

the detail isnt enough that I can identify the pistols

the pink haired neko looks like she is holding some variant of a Barrett .50 cal sniper rifle

I have no idea what the purple haired neko is holding

I ordered Mio a pair of Glock G-17's today ... I would have rather gotten her H&K MK23's but I couldnt find any in 1/3 scale
... and I have been thinking about getting her an M-21 sniper version of the M-14

If you don't mind them being slightly out of scale, a good source for 1/3 and 1/4 swords is collectable letter openers. Bought a few at the local renaissance faire for $5 each, one even came with a scabbard and a matching scale knife (and since its actually sharp, it gets used as a boot knife as well). You can find em pretty cheap on Ebay, though they're mostly katanas or medieval style.

I've seen pics of letter openers like that

sadly I live out in the middle of nowhere ... no doll shows ... no ren faires .. nothing that I would attend ....... I dont do the cowboy thing, and that is all there is anywhere near me

I may be a bit old fashioned ... but because I have known too many cases where people got burned on ebay ... I refuse to have anything to do with it ... I've never dealt with Amazon either

because of Mio's larger than normal size ... I suspect I am going to have to get one special made ... which I dont mind ... because then I can get exactly the style I want for her :)

Mint on Card actually has a nice collection of medieval-esque doll swords online. They look like they'd be the right scale for an MSD, or they would at least make a smaller SD sword (at 22cm long). I wanted to get one for my girl, before I found out she wasn't going to act the way I wanted (like a paladin). So I'm hoping her new friend on the way will be a bit more chivalrous so I have a reason to buy a sword for him!
