1/4 mature male - do they exist?

Postby Kukolka » Sat Sep 01, 2012 3:07 pm

Where might one find a 1:4 scale mature male BJD?

The closest I've seen are Les Rêves d'un Garçon http://store.rdgdoll.com/mannequins both of whom are out of stock. All other males in that height height range appear to have childlike bodies which doesn't work with my character concept. I'm looking for a masculine chest and man hands ;) along with the head that accepts acrylic eyes. Just thought I'd ask here in case I missed any in search, before giving up on 1:4 scale for my first two chars.

Fairyland minifee have muscular options for their bodies, and they are very mature-looking. Some of the heads look more childlish while others have a more masculine appearance (which fit the masculine bodies). The hands are pretty standard, not veined or anything. But faceups and blushings go a long way to making something look mature and masculine.

Just be aware that minifee are not cheap in comparison to other MSDs, but they are engineered like whoa and are probably some of the best posers you'll ever find on the market.

Fairyland also just announced they're releasing a limited run of their ChicLine series, which are similar to minifee in height, but have smaller and much more realistic (and masculine) heads. But they're a VERY limited run and only if there's a certain amount of interest in the sculpts by customers, something to do with getting enough orders ... I don't quite get all the rules they have laid out for this.

fairyland has two different lines that are 40 cm
chicline
http://www.denverdoll.com/fairylandchicalacarte.php although chicline is more 1/5 in scale than 1/4 although 40 cm tall.
minifee

Planetdoll has one

Thank you both for this information! ChicLine muscular type is exactly what I had in mind, and Rou face looks perfect! Aah, now to find a girl to go with him and decide before Oct 22 deadline. Thanks so much! ^^

Another thought is Angel of Dream. I have a DZ Shoyo head on the AoD body because I wanted the big anime eyes... but the body is not child-like.

Here's a pic... (done for the Junkyspot wings facebook challenge last summer, but it's the only convenient one I have of him shirtless)

Thanks, Yanagi-sen! That's an idea, to use a different head if the standard ones look too young. Nice job on the wings!

I remember someone on here posting about their mirodoll 1/4 male; it's a very muscular body. Here's a link to the body on mirodoll: http://www.mirodoll.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=4
He's a little on the short side but it all depends on what you want.
