Hi everyone!!!!!
We recently completed my custom Princess Aurora 16" Tonner doll and I just love her so much! She came out (FINALLY!) as I imagined!!!!
Long story short is that a few years ago, I purchased the Tonner 16" Sleeping Beauty doll from the Big Bad Toy Store. When I received her, I was ULTRA disappointed in her dress, face, hair---oh, just about everything. (Nothing bad, of course, against BBTS---they're an awesome online shop for rare products.)
Anyway, she was NOTHING like Aurora! (Dress was an ugly mucky shade of hot pink, her hair was platinum blonde, short and with no bangs, her face---they just used an old sculpt called 'Lana' instead of sculpting a new Aurora facemold!!!)
So, since I detested her so much, I decided to just keep her box, her tiara, necklace and stand, and sell off the doll and gown, to make my perfect 'custom' version.
Since then, I've been scouring Tonner dolls for a really 'Aurora' sculpt and about a year and half ago, I bought a SDCC Phantom Zone Supergirl for her, which looked really beautiful online, but when I received her, again, her face and hair especially---was GORGEOUS, but to me, was NOT exactly Aurora. I'm just too picky, I think, because she was beautiful, but....I was not 100% with her. (I did actually in the end, make her into Aurora in her blue gown, which I sold on eBay)
So the search went on.....
Until just a few weeks ago, when I found her!!!! The sculpt that IS Aurora! This is what Aurora would look like if realistically styled! I bought her a GOLDEN blonde wavy/curled long wig and styled the bangs.
I redid her faceup a bit to be more Aurora-like (eyebrows, eyeliner and lashes, and purple eyes, plus reddish lips) and my sister made her gown. (In purple, like I love!)
So, finally, after 3 years of trying, my dream Aurora Tonner is complete!!!!!! And she's perfect!!!!!
Even my mother thinks she's a beauty! Before she had her gown on, and she was just laying in my paint room, drying her faceup, my mom passes by and says 'Oh! What a pretty doll!'
(And she doesn't say that about all the dolls!)
So she's even Mother-approved!!!! :laughs:
Hope you all like her, too!!!!
