Well, I may be the exception, rather than the rule around here, but personally my philosophy is: If you like the doll, buy it.
I dont' worry EVER about whether a doll will look right next to another doll or not because I just like that doll Unless you are trying to match a preconceived character/family I wouldn't let it bother you.
I have RS Rong, I also have ooooodles of other dolls (see my profile, there are too many to list in a signature). Don't have LM or Miro dolls, but that doesn't matter - you get a doll because it calls to you and you want it!
RS/BBB are definitely great beginner dolls as they are a good price and, yes, you will learn about restringing, sueding and possibly even wiring if you feel particularly adventurous
