Ellowyne Wilde Is Here - With Issues...

I received my Ellowyne Wilde doll today and while she's very pretty and dainty, I'm not happy that this "mint blonde new just out of the box" has a spot on her face, one on her throat and a slight scrape on her chest! She also has her seams obviously sanded which I am guessing was done at the factory(?). I'm glad she fits into the Angel Studio outfit I bought for my MNF so at least she'd no longer nekkid, but I bought a Tailored for Pru outfit that should be here Monday or Weds. and if I end up sending her back ... well the outfit is not my MNF's style. ARG.

Tonner/Wilde dolls can be iffy sometimes. I've seen seams left raw and seams sanded, and spots and chips are not unfortunately uncommon even straight from the factory. You probably saw the blurb I wrote about the problems with the City Girls? Most of it I can deal with but the spot thing I hate. If it's green or brown send it back. Those spots can grow over time. I had that happen with a Tonner boy. The discoloration spread to where I finally had to replace his head.
My Tonner Prince Charming actually came from the factory with a chip on his nose. The only reason I kept him was he was a factory find. There were no more left by the time I first saw the them. The Cinderella line was kaput and I wanted one enough to try to sand down his nose a bit. It worked, mostly, but it makes me mad when I look at him because he was an expensive doll that boy. I only paid like $100 because he was on deep sale and nude but he retailed at like $299 that doll because he was some kind of convention variation. I'd have never paid that for him normally but he's a nice looking guy and I'm not that into Tonner's Matt and I wanted a Tonner guy. He was my first one actually and so far he's the most expensive of the lot.
I have a whole slew of Tonner guys now but most of them I paid less than $40 for them. My Narnia boys we got them for $20 a pop nude from a doll store online that put them on clearance. I forget if they were for Christmas or birthday but my parents paid for them. I got Harry Potter from my brother as a gift a while back and I bought Andy Mills on clearance because I just loved him. I kind of wanted Aragorn but I had to choose between him and Andy unfortunately. Looking back I should have gotten him for the $30.
I like Viggo Mortensen and having a doll in his likeness would have been nice. He's a pretty man, laugh. I just wasn't sure about the beard. I tend to like him more bare faced though I suppose having Arwen having him as Strider would have been more appropriate. He's not that hard to find. One of these days I'll probably see one on auction and go for it. But I'm not going to pay more than $25-30 though. He and Arwen are barely selling for some strange reason. Legolas and Galadriel you can't lay hands on without spending a serious chunk of change but you can pick up either Arwen or Aragorn for a song from what I've seen. Probably I will sooner or later just so I can custom him. I want to try to sand off the beard make a Viggo doll...

Well, so far the lighting isn't being helpful for photos - at least with my cellphone camera. It's overcast and gray outside. I might try out digital in a bit. I found a few more small gouges on her shoulders and on her sides - all factory mishaps I'm guessing - along with the poorly sanded seams and the bad mixing on one of her hands which resulted in a swirl effect. Crappy quality control, I'd say.
The seller is offering to refund or replace her, but that means I have to pay to return her. I've replied back that I'd like a partial refund (asking $15.00) so I'll see if she agrees or counters. I won't take less than $10.00 refund, though and I'll be damned if I'll pay to return her ... I'm hoping it works out for both of us, because I don't want to end up having to keep her at full price and leaving negative feedback.
Oh, and while I don't think anything can be done for the dot of black on her neck, I could probably have the bluish one incorporated into a birthmark if it isn't just paint.

That sounds like really bad quality control. I hope you can get the refund and don't have to leave negative feedback.

The seller, naturally, doesn't have any control over how well the doll was made, but she should not have just assumed it was in "mint" condition without verifying it, that's for sure.

Oh, I know that the seller had no control over how the doll was made but it sucks that the doll wasn't throughly inspected before listing.
I'm sad to hear that Tonner/Wilde Imagination have some quality control issues. I like some of the dressed dolls but with what I've been hearing about them coupled with seeing some Tonner dolls in person, I'm rethinking my idea of purchasing one.

Without any notice or PM, the seller refunded me $15.00. I'm pleased (it would have been nice if she had commented on it as well, though) and left her positive feedback with written indication that there were issues that were resolved and thanked her. So I'm happy, I really like this doll - except now I have 4 dolls that need new face-ups!
LOL!
