He stole Strider's boots because we all hate the harlequin sox with low boots that were part of his outfit. I am on the lookout for some tall black boots but so far, the ones on ebay that I like are all brown. I may end up making him some black leather spats to go over his original boots.
It was love at first sight of airship captain/skypirate Malcom Edison Westinghouse, my first Phin. The Ellowynes are sulking but, there was way too much het sex going on around here anyway.
