It took me a while to warm up to this doll because I don't generally like the open mouth look. However, she grew on me and I'm rather fond of the notion of Flappers too. I bought the basic redhead from a private collector since she was sold out in that haircolor and bought one of the dressed girls from Tonner to steal her outfit which I just loved. Especially love the darling coat!

I named her Betty after 2 Flappers: Betty Boop and Mrs. Betty Chesler.

Ms. Chesler was the wife of a comic book publisher I met back in the 70's. While my boyfriend (at the time) was talking with Harry Chesler, I sat and chatted with Betty who told me about her wild youth as a real Flapper! The skirt on this dress is actually a bit shorter than it should be and her hose aren't rolled. I'd kill to find a pair of the 'flapper boots' they wore to fit this girl.

She can fit in some of Ellowyne's things. Here she is in a dress and some shoes that belong to El. The top and waist are a bit loose as are the shoes, but not to badly and I can adjust any patterns to fit when I start sewing for her.

I can't stop looking at the bottom picture, she is a heart stopper! Those shoes are the cats meow! I would love to have her. Does she come stock with a faceup, or did you do that?

She's a vinyl doll from Tonner, so she comes with that face. Some people do buy them and re-paint but I'm not that talented. I didn't care for the shoes with the Ellowyne outfit they were originally part of, but they really suit her 20's style, I think.

She is on the TonnerDirect site, under Deja Vu. I believe all the basic dolls in the Flappers (Emma Jean) are sold out. Right now they have 3 eras represented: French pre-revolution, Flapper (1920's) and modern day. A new 50's doll is being introduced too.
