I really wish there were more options for Vinyl heads. I mean I know we have Volks and Parabox.. But.. I just long for the same diversity you see with resin. :3

If molding vinyl and plastic was as easy as casting resin, there would be more companies out there making vinyl heads. Volks has found a very comfortable (and profitable) niche making anime heads for their DD fullsets. I don't think they would ever make a realistic head in vinyl. That might take a few yen away from their resin sales. Your only alternative besides putting resin heads on vinyl bodies is to keep an eye on what Obitsu is doing. Right now there are five somewhat rare sculpts in the Visuadoll series (manufactured by Obitsu), four of which I know are available. They aren't terribly expensive (38640yen) but since you can't buy the heads separately (you have to buy the body too), they aren't $24.00 cheap.

Yeah there aren't that many head options for custom ones... Yet they do special exclusive faces for characters...

If You have some skills, You can always mod the standard option head.
Or even make Your own from resin. AFAIK polyester resin is quite easy to cast at home. Or maybe better to say, not very difficult :)
For example, custom DD heads from SQ-Lab are made from resin.

I understand the process is more taxing. I actualy would prefer Vinyl though, so, as you mentioned, I am eyeing up Obitsu rather frequently. Are the VisuaDoll heads resin or vinyl? I actually saw a few of those in an auction and was debating.

Is this a company that you need a proxy to purchase from, or will they ship to the usa direct? I actually really like a few of their sculpts!!

This is single person, a female artist, and she sells these heads on Yahoo!Japan.
Blank heads on Y!J could go to 8-10.000 JPY. Painted and finished with eyes and faceup are usually as expensive as Volks' limited ones, with prices up to 20-30.000JPY.

The VisuaDoll heads are vinyl. I've got the two females.
The Sora head (Sapphire, 50cm)..................................................and the Moegi head (Mittens, 40cm)

Without wigs they appear ever so slightly smaller than the Haruka head so they work nicely on the 50cm and 40cm bodies.

I couldn't make a head from scratch if my life depended on it, unless they wanted a hideous deformed one...

I would LOVE to pick up one of these girls. I just cannot afford the conversion rate + proxy + shipping etc. etc right now. Poop.
