First doll in 7 years?! Resinsoul Ling

I was hardcore into the hobby years ago, but kind of slowly backed down when college happened. Now that I'm at a place in my life where things have settled down and become permanent, I've decided to dip my toes back in.

I've been stalking the DoA MP for about a month now, and found this little girlie for a ridiculously good price (even for a less expensive RS doll). I honestly think it was her long nose that struck me. Anyways, I wanted her. I was a little nervous about Resinsoul, as I've seen mixed reviews. I've gotta tell you though... I've owned Souldolls and Elfdolls and I've handled many dolls from Fairyland, Dollshe, etc. and Resinsoul is actually quite good. Her joints are beautifully designed. Her resin is smooth, even, and matte. She's solid, but not overly heavy. At first, she was kicky/punchy but after sueding, she poses very well. She'll need wiring to be able to stand... her limbs are very long and her bust is very heavy, making her top-heavy. So wiring is definitely in the plans.

Anyways, on with the show.

The box on arrival. Certainly different to me that the doll's box was used as the shipping box, but she got here in one piece, so no griping from me. Shipping was insanely fast and free.

Image
Inside the box was a ton of plastic bags as padding. A goodie bag was also included, which my 2 and 4 year old daughters adored.

Image
This is always the part where I get nervous. Whatever is under there will either blow my mind, or crush my soul.

Image
Thar she blows. My first thought was, "Holy crap, she's freakin' huge. What have I done?!" And she is... she's a giant. Much taller than I thought she'd be. All 10 fingers and toes in tact. The only thing I noticed was she could use a good scrub. There were tiny scuffs all over her. Nothing a magic sponge can't handle.

Image
The faceup is quite decent, though I don't care for the brows or heavy blush - personal taste. It's always neat to see other artists' work in person though. I intend to wipe her and paint her up myself as soon as this Georgia weather decides to cooperate. I tried to get this photo's coloring as true to life as possible. She is white skin and it's very white.

Image
I got a free outfit (white long pants, denim bermuda shorts, b&w striped top, 2 pairs of shoes) and a wig. I got her dressed and popped the wig on her. It’s a 9/10 so it’s a bit loose. It’s seen better days, but it was free and it’s better than sitting around bald. I didn’t receive any eyes, so she had to be eye-less for a few days. It was fun to scare my fiance with her in this state. ;)

Image
My sister came over today and I borrowed some of her 16mm green acrylics to serve as placeholders. I'm planning on a sand colored glass pair, along with a deep burgundy lambs fur wig. Much better for now though.

Image
I was still trying to tame the wig in these  I truly believe she has a lot of potential though. I think Resinsoul dolls are much more than those awful company photos show.

So this chick has a full schedule ahead: faceup, body blush, mani/pedi, wiring, toe separation, outfitting, wig, eyes. I can't wait to bring her into her own. :D

I can't tell the faceup is over done on the photos - she looks wonderful.

Thanks guys.

Kirahfaye, the faceup isn't bad really. It's just heavily blushed. It's so blushed her whole face is pink and is a noticeably different color from her body and headcap... which irks me. It's very obvious looking at her in person, not too much in photos.

She's lovely!

And I agree about a lot of Resinsoul's company pics not doing the doll justice.

I think some people over-do their face-ups so they'll show up a certain way in photography. Maybe that was the deal? I dunno. I never understood the uber-red-faced look. I look like that when I attempt exercise. aha! That's it, it was an exercise face-up. Just mist a little water on her and she'll be set. hehehehehe

Thanks guys ;)
And LOL @Trethowan! Yeah she looks like she just got embarrassed or something. I AM a little jealous of the artist for painting those lashes though. Those thangs are sweet.

She's lovely. I'm a big Resin Soul/Bobobie fan and like you- I've had all kinds of other, "better" brands, but I truly love the Resin Soul and Bobobie dolls. They're just different, not necessarily better or worse. The company photos are awful, but maybe not hiring a professional photographer and web designer keeps them affordable (??).
Anyway- she's really nice. :)
