I remember color film in a b/w enlarger using regular Kodak paper when I was in college! I loved the results! It's been 20 years since I was in class. The b/w film I use (Ilford, Fuji b/w) is great. I love it. I've been getting some great shots, even with the not-so-great lighting in the basement. I don't have a 'darkroom'...but the bathroom in the basement is dark, pitch black dark so that's where I load the film. I develop it an fix it in the kitchen upstairs because the bathroom in the basement only has a shower/toilet - no sink.
I've searched for the 116 film and have found 127 - which I ordered for my mom's old Brownie Holiday. I've not shot anything with that yet. I was on Kodak's site and read that the 116 wasn't made by Kodak. The 127 is Efke, made by a Croatian company. A friend of mine has used that before and I loved what she got with it.
Oh - here's what I've been getting from the Ilford HP5 400 :
I need to get some matte paper and oil paints/oil pencils and I'll try printing the photos and doing a bit of hand tinting. I still want to use the enlarger paper in lieu of film with the other Brownie. Aimee, in the photo above, will be my model. As my main camera (Pentax K1000) doesn't have a macro lens, it's a bit interesting trying to shoot the 1/6 and smaller dolls.
Although, I found a small Madame Alexander doll at Goodwill - and Aimee claimed her as HER own doll :
I'll have more shots this weekend but I'm not sure how many of them will be dollieh photos and how many of them will be of my walk around town. ;D
I have some 50ISO...but I'm still trying to figure out the timed exposure and how NOT to get the film to fog. Just re-learning on my own and trying to learn new tips and tricks without the benefits of actually being in a class. There's a lot of great information on the web, though.
I'll keep my eye out for 116 film. I've also been thinking that the film sheets would work...but I don't have an enlarger. These were all scanned (negatives). I did find an enlarger online for under $200 but it won't take anything but 35mm. The one that I found that takes anything other than was pretty expensive, although I could always use a 4x5 film sheet, make a contact print and then scan the print, invert the image with Photoshop.
I'm glad my husband has his B.A. in art. Anyone else might not quite understand. ;D
