Annual "Freak Out The Neighbors Day" went well...

Postby TheHighlander » Mon Mar 14, 2011 11:17 am

We had our annual Freak Out The Neighbors Day this weekend as our Bradford Pear tree was in full bloom and the daffodils were out too. So Misheru and I hit the front yard with arm fulls of Volks and Obitsu love. We'll post pictures later, but I wanted to post this first.

As always we were the subject of scrutiny, wandering around our front yard taking pictures of dolls. It seems that we were a source of curiosity and confusion. so much so that one of our neighbors did a triple take and was apparently so disturbed that he and his family took off in their car after staring at us for a while.

OK I get that it's not that frequent that you see adults with Dolls, and it's unusual to see such large dolls being played with by anyone. But still, it's not like we're brandishing guns or making drugs, we're only taking pictures of Dolls. Perhaps it's the fact that we're grown ups playing with dolls? Perhaps it's the fact that I as a man am wandering around with my dolls and taking pictures?

I don't care really, they'll think what they think. But I can't help wondering why other people have the reaction they do, it's not like we're hurting anyone.

Ah well, at least we freaked out the neighbors...

I like my dolliehs a lot.
Actually, I like my dolliehs more than I like a lot of people I know in real life.
Is that bad? I think not!

+1 for awesome geekdom. If they can't help but stare, let 'em!

I've always found it curious what people find acceptable. Running around in the dead of winter with your chest and face painted in the colors of some sports team or race car driver are perfectly acceptable behavior but photographing dolls is thought of as an abnormality. You probably would have received less looks if you were brandishing guns and drugs.

I know the feeling!! I had the 1/6 dolls on my sidewalk for the 4th of July one year, and people stopped their cars to look! I look forward to the pictures, trees in bloom and dolls sounds wonderful!

sigh...I wish I could be that brave, but there are TOOOOOOOO many loose children in my apartment complex. I'd be trying to get fingerprints, candy stick and ketchup off of them *cold chills*

But see, you ARE making drugs...

by taking and posting pictures you are making us drool over your dolls! We get the euphoria feeling like most drugs, and you get the adrenaline rush of taking the pictures! xD A total bunch of uppers!!

Maybe they're just interested and curious. I would be. If I saw you taking pictures of dolls, I'd want to stop and watch.

Gift and I went to the mall this past weekend and some small child came over and started to play with one of Gift's girls. I would totally have been like Grey if he had come over by me, and probably would have shooed the kid away. (I guess I looked angry enough that the child didn't come towards my girls. Thankfully.)

I didn't mind too much. I put my big girls away and let him just play with my littlest pet shop Blythe :)
His mom worked at the nail salon and he looked so bored.
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.
