For props, for the 50 cm dolls (and 44 to 60 cm really), anything that works for a American Girls doll will usually work. Not clothing, though, it doesn't work at all.
But all the "stuff" is great! And you don't have to buy the over-priced AG brand, either, if you check on ebay there are a lot of sellers who have items that work that are a lot cheaper.
I am CONSTANTLY on the look-out for little stuff and find it in the most random places- grocery stores, hardware stores, gift shops, thrift stores, dollar stores, yard sales, liquor stores, even tobacco shops (got my little six-pack or Corona beer at a tobacco shop on Union Square in SF). So just keep your eyes open- you might be surprised what you find!

Exactly, you need to develop an eye for stuff that could be mini stuff for your dolls ^^. It's EVERYWHERE.

I second Evelien on the developing an eye for 'doll stuff'.
For food specifically, there are really cute little japanese erasers shaped like different types of things to eat which are super darling! Some 'accessory' shops like Claires (I don't know if there is an equivalent in the bahamas) that sell cheap jewelry for little/young girls has lip gloss in packaging that also looks like food. So far of the lip-glosses I've gotten several ones that look like sodas (both bottled and canned!) cup-cakes, and one which looks like a Hershey's chocolate syrup.
On ebay, they sometimes sell vintage 3" coke bottles, which are the perfect scale.
Another option, for insane people like me, is to take packaging for boxed foods... access a scanner, scan it in at 100 dpi. Then in a photo editing program, change the dpi without changing the number of pixels, so that now it's at 300dpi. Print on cardstock and glue together. Voila! Perfect 1:3 scale food container.
On clothes? For a 50cm, look for MSD or 1:4 scale shoes. Seriously. the 1:3 ones will be too big.

Zirconmermaid did something like that in a swap last year. She made a little paper teabox with actual miniature tea bags in it!!! Insane. I LOVE it
