Echo makes her debut! (my first face up and body blushing!)

Postby Dirili » Sat Jul 28, 2012 9:16 am

Ok, after an 11 hour painting session yesterday I've finally got my new Obitsu all painted up and decided on a name for her!

Echo Altace is a character of mine who doesn't necessarily match the doll, but it has a slight enough fit and the name is pretty, so I'm naming her after that one ^_^

I totally forgot to glaze the lips and nails though, so I'll be doing that in a minute after I post these pics...

Really once she was finished last night I thought I went a little too heavy handed on the body blushing, but when I took her outside and photographed her, the strong light washed out a lot of the detail in the pics. The paint job on her hands in particular is very detailed, but the sun took a lot of that away too.

Her makeup irl is pretty bronzy. Overall she turned out a lot better than I thought she would for my first doll paint! I thought it would be harder, but I guess my experience with oil, watercolor and digital paint helped me here more than I imagined it would.

Also... think I did something(s) wrong putting her back together... it was harder than I thought it would be and her left foot keeps spinning around loosely. The ankle joint is tight, but the horizontal spin on it is loose. Plus I think I may have mixed up the upper arms, so I may have to repaint both of those T_T

Out of all the eyes that I made her, the ones that fit, i didn't like with her look, so I used a pair of flatback eyes I got from Suntek, one of a 4 pack for $2.29, so they look a lot better than I imagined they could being so cheap! http://www.suntekstore.com/goods.php?id=15007794

Boy you have just jumped on in!!
I love her face- what a great job
what did you use to seal her and how does it feel compared to when you got her?
I am afraid to do a faceup body blush because of how the seal will look/ feel.

Thanks you 2! :D
hehe yeah, I tend to do that mica. Usually results in some minor catastrophies, but I seem to learn better that way. So I'm surprised I didn't have any big screw-ups on this.

I used ZM Finishing Powder spray UV cut. Feels pretty much the same way it felt before I painted her. Like OkamiKodomo said, has a nice tooth to it, so kind of has a slightly rough feel.

It's important to shake it well before spraying or it will be tacky for a loooong time. Also make sure to hold the spray more than 6 inches away and let layers dry adequately. (doesn't really take long, just maybe 2 minutes. The spray has a lot of alchohol in it) If you spray a layer too thick you could end up with drips. I did end up with one small line on one of the inner thighs because I sprayed too thick.

Drips or an awful mottled effect. Happened with an Island Doll girl I was painting, using testor's. Spray too close, and the particles get sorta stuck together.

But she looks great, Dirili! Love the pink wig XD

XD Thanks you 2! I just wish the detail showed up better in the pictures.

You know, I think the color actually faded today too... Does color sometimes fade when the fixatives finish fully setting?

Alright you've made me decide I gotta get back to practicing face up's. It's like face up season around here and I'm getting inspired. Time to find the next victim-I mean volunteer.
