Hooray! New camera arrived today and I didn't even have to fiddle with any settings at all for the pictures to come out soooo much more true to life than the old camera. Well, her skin is a bit pale in the first shot for some reason, but the other 2 are pretty accurate in color on my screen. I got a Sony Cyber-shot WX150. I love the little lens flares I got from the backlighting too.

Borrowed a memory card from my mother to take a few test pics really quick as I'm still waiting for mine to arrive.

But now you can see what I was talking about with her chin being too red like she bumped it on something. Everything else about her is amazing though hehe. She's so lovely. Later on I'll take some pics with her alternate parts. AE sent me that wig, but it's darker and straighter than the one in the catalog pics. Maybe it's just a freebie they tossed in not actually part of the fullset. They did tell me to pay extra if I wanted a wig and I said I didn't want it. I was going to use one that I had on hand. Wonder if I can bleach the wig a bit and curl it to look like the sample pics...

Yea, that red on the chin is bad. My recommendation is take a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and just carefully scrub that away. If you do it gently you should be able to do a gradual removal of it without affecting the area around it.

Has anyone ever tried to shade red with a cream/white blush over top of it? Rather than remove and risk the MSC lines, can it be hidden? Dollieh concealer. LOL That said, she's gorgeous!!!

I love her, chin and all!! How is she at posing? I looked at her on Taobao, and it was pretty confusing actually. I can't wait for you to share more pictures of her!!

She's lovely. The Lorelei version was a grail doll of mine and a friend in our local doll group got her. Sigh ... how beautiful.

And yes, perhaps trying to conceal the chin blush with lighter paint would work? I don't remember Nelson's Lorelei having excess blushing at all, but these things are done by hand. Perhaps the artist was trying to cover up a stray spot of paint and overdid it?

I definitely wouldn't try removing the red on the chin with a magic eraser. Far too much of a risk if you ask me. Covering it with a new layer of blush sounds like the best advice to me. Did you contact AE about the chin at all?

Beautiful!
Can definitely see the red chin now, it does look like she got a bad bump. =/

Thanks so much again you all :D

No, I didn't contact AE about the faceup. I think it would be too much trouble. I'm sure it was an accident that they either thought would be too much trouble to fix, or thought people wouldn't really mind it. Whenever I've tried to lighten things before with pastels the sealant darkens it out again. I could maybe airbrush some acrylic over it, but I think I might try gently with a magic eraser. Worst thing that can happen is I'll have to wipe the whole head and redo the faceup.

Her posing isn't all that great unfortunately :( Although there are multiple links in the tail, it's still sculpted to pose as if there were knees and the poses don't stick well. I'm sure sueding would help a lot with that, but I'm afraid to take her apart and restring her because the tail stringing is kind of complicated... there are 2 holes through all but the bottom 2 or 3 links. I messed up when I was trying to put the fin on and one of the string slipped and I had a hell of a time trying to get it strung back through again. In some of the pics you can see as smoothly as I could get the tail to pose curved backwards and forwards. the one where she's sitting up and her tail is curled up at the end, I had to have the tail braced against the background to stay up like that.

I tried the other set of pieces on her and although I thought I liked the first set better, now that I see these on her I like this set a lot better! I'm really surprised. I didn't want to switch the other tail piece though because I really didn't want to risk the restringing debaucle again hehe
