Amber's Face up

My first face up on resin and on a 1/3. It took me longer and it made me realize how Eden's was a breeze XD

I used some pastels to get some shading and to shape her eyebrows. You can barely see it here. That sliver that looks like a long smudge? Yeah, that's it XD

I drew "fine" lines using silver watercolor pencil

I gave up on the lips -_- At first I tried pastels using a paintbrush but I didn't like how not-solid it looked like so I tried using acrylics, and omg, that was NOT the right decision for me. It took me half the time to clean her lips. Good thing I tried using a toothpick dipped in alcohol then a tiny paintbrush and that helped heaps. I was just using a paintbrush at first. Anyways, I then did the lips again with pastels but this time using eyeshadow brushes (if that's what they're called)

Hmm now that I think about it , I kinda gave up on everything. The eyebrows I wasn't sure how to position so I just went with what looked right the the black around her eyes would NOT stay straight so I had to do it over again A LOT.

Oh, and I used a metallic yellow-brownish-sliver color pencil for her eyebrows and it looked better than the silver one. They are too long and too curved but I don't mind, it looks nice :>

I will post more pictures with her eyes in and wig on and her head on her body.

Any tips?

Still looks better then my first face up. It looks really good for your first try on a resin.

I think her faceup looks good!

For lips, I like to mix a drop of color with 2-3 drops of acrylic gloss. It gives a nice smooth shiny color to the lips, and doesn't look clear after it dries. (Although it does look more white/clear before it dries than it does after it dries.)

@.@ that confused me a bit haha XD. Do you mean the "lipstick" you use is a mix of acrylic gloss and color? Huh if so, I didn't even think of doing that. I'll try that method next face up :)

I think it looks really good!! I also use eyeshadow brushes when doing faceups ^^. They make me more in control than regular paint brushes.

Yes, that's what I meant.

Sorry for not explaining clearly.

What I do is this:

1. Put 2-3 drops of clear acrylic gloss in the bottom of a cup. (or whatever you use to mix paint... I use a plastic cup.)

2. Dip the tip of your paintbrush in the pink paint (or blue, or black, or red, whatever color you want for the lips.)

3. Mix the paint into the acrylic gloss.

4. Once it's mixed, rinse the brush.

5. Spread the paint/gloss mixture evenly over the lips using the paintbrush. (If you don't clean the brush before doing this, you risk leaving a streak of darker color or unmixed bits of paint.)

5b. Alternate method = dab a drop of gloss onto the lips, and tilt the doll's head back forth to spread the color around. (for some reason this only works on resins, not vinyl dolls.)
