Attempting a Face-Up for Jim

Eeeeehhhhhh.... it's my trademark bland, expressionless eyebrows! whohoo!

Not done yet. I'm having a bit of a problem. The resin is rough. Like drawing with chalk on asphalt rough. It's got a frustrating little grit to the forehead, lips, and all around the eyes. Even after sealing in hopes it would smooth things out a bit, the grit picks up the pastels unevenly and it's quite frustrating. /sigh. That aside, I'm happy enough with how he's turning out.

I like it! The eyebrows are a little too "pretty boy" for his character, imo--I expected him with these sort of bushy angry eyebrows; at least, that's my conception from what you've told us. But the shading on his cheekbones, around his eyes, and above his brows is really good! :D

I like the neutral brow. He doesn't need to look angry to intimidate; he can do it through size. It can be done-I have seen my husband intimidate while grinning at the person he is fighting on the list field. (He is a knight in the SCA.) :D

I don't have any skill at making any sort of eyebrow except for that little straight line thing that follows the brow ridge. It is the weirdest thing. I did the same thing with Abe, he's got these lovely little lady brows. HAHAHA. I've wiped faces over and over trying to do something different but I always end up with these thin, well-groomed brows that are all... meh. BLAND! I'm just lucky they're somewhat symmetrical. I do have Floating Brow Syndrome. Once, when I wasn't looking, one floated right up into the forehead and ran away from me. True story. ;-)

I ought to mail him out for a proper job, but that would cost a zillion dollars in shipping alone.

Why thanks! The SCA sounds like awesome fun! Jim's a grouch on the outside, but inside he's a squishy-pie. :-p Give that man a puppy, he'll be all cuddlykins.

There's nothing bad about a neutral (expressionless) face-up, especially since you use your dolls for photostories.
What ever difficulties you're having with the surface, they don't seem to be showing up in pictures. Now he'll look a lot less like the Hulk. He looks good.

Thanks! I suppose I could order a second Titan and paint it green.

He looks good so far. My own dolls are prone to the raised left eyebrow themselves

It is true--seeing him on the body will probably change everything. My default image of "BJD boy" is the kind of soft, feminine DollZone thing; not the hulking Titan. ;) I definitely second a Hulk Titan!

Or maybe a regular male SD for Jim when he gets cuddly ;) "Don't hand me a puppy! I don't like me when I'm soft and adorable, but you probably would!"

I suck at making even eyebrows. His lips look nice and natural.
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.

woo for updates!

Sooo... the camera and lighting make a huge difference in how this guy looks. I swear in indoor light he doesn't look so shiny. And I swear his lips got darker on their own, it wasn't me! It wasn't me! The way this cheapo camera picks up the light is totally freaking me out, man! waaahhh! (dramatic moment brought to you by Subway. eat fresh.)

This totally looks like a mug shot. HA. Now I just have to find this guy a wig, and a pair of shoes big enough to fit. Yahoo!

As for the eyes, they were originally bought when I was going to buy a Spiritdoll Herculean for the Jimster, but the eye-holes in the Granado are a bit smaller. I could do with a size down. The blue fills up an awful lot of the space.
