Amazing What a Little Styling Can Do

Finally got Ashe's proper wig the other day, and it was very... flouncy. Like, bouncy curls, lolita style.

First round with the flat iron on LOW. (don't attempt this unless you know your wig is heat resistant... it WILL ruin a regular wig)

I think I made it worse... Anyway, next I hit it with a hair dryer in the front. I have a foam wig stand I made out of a styrofoam easter egg, plastic wrap, tape, a wooden dowel, a plastic dixie cup, and plaster. I used long sewing pins to hold the hair where I wanted it to go, and used the hair dryer on HIGH to heat the front of the wig. A little careful trimming and there we go.

He's definitely a crazy one. Ashe is a shade crazier than batshit insane.

Oh man... I feel like Wig-styling is its own difficult skill-set. "A little styling", as you've shown, takes a wig from looking like a costume wig to the doll's actual hair!

I recently tried out styling my Hujoo's wig, having to trim the bangs and such.. had to look up a buncha tutorials after "winging it" resulted in a disastrous, floofy bowlcut that made her head look huge! Thankfully, I got the bangs trimmed right, and a hair-curling wand to flatten the wig down around her head helped a ton.

Weird how much human-cosmetic skills apply to dolls, sometimes 0_0

Thank you! I just peeked at your Hujoo, and I have to say, you did a great job on her wig. I'll comment over there to give you some feedback on her if you'd like. Ashe's wig started as a very very girly one.

On top of that, the bangs were mushed a bit in shipping. I straightened it, trimmed the ends, and then used the hair drier to fix the bangs.

Agreed. About the most I can manage is to keep it out of their eyes a bit. ha!

I can reduce the fringe in a way that looks at least half intentional now  I tried doing a fishtail braid with one though and... the hair's still loose

I haven't tried real braids or anything yet haha. I've done some little ones before, and put hair in ponytails but no fancy braids!

I have figured out how to... erm.... denap a wig. I got a grab bag and I got a fro wig. It was ridiculous. Okami helped me make it smooth... she pointed to the bathroom and I found the flat iron. thank you darlin :D It's funny because we have a can of car primer, msc, zm, clear acrylic sealant, a dolly brush, and rubbing alcohol out on the counter, but we only break out the girly things like the flat iron and blow dryer for a wig. We suck at this whole girly thing so hard!
