I'm pretty sure they're 2003, as I would have bought them new about when I moved here and that's around right. :) The whole line was only 8 figs, and they were at a Dollar General when I picked them up for only $1 each.

I checked on Amazon, but couldn't find the 1/6 scale Turtles. Is there something specific the line is called? I may want to go searching for those myself... XD

Thanks! Hubby says he thinks he remembers seeing them at our old Family Dollar years ago before it went out of business, but he never got a chance to pick up a set.

They're called "Battle Shell" Turtles, and I think they're listed as 11" figures on their packaging (although their height does actually vary quite well, with Michelangelo being the shortest, Raphael second shortest, Leonardo second tallest, and Donatello being the tallest). The reason they're called Battle Shell is that they have a gimmick where their shells open for you to store extra weapons that they come with. We didn't really care for the gimmick (to us it's just plain disturbing), so we've permanently sealed their shells shut. The gimmick doesn't detract from their overall sculpts at all, and other than a small hinge on their right side (that we're thinking about dremmeling off), isn't really noticeable at all. We can take side and back pictures of them if you want! :)

They started as ToysR'Us exclusives at $25 I think, but now you can get them at Walmart for $20 a piece if you can ever catch them in stock (our walmarts tended to only get them in 1 or 2 at a time :?).

On another note, the extra weapons they come with are really nice. Leonardo comes with his daisho set(daito- long sword and shoto- short sword) plus a tanto and a kunai (different kinds of small daggers). Donatello comes with his bo staff as well as a sansetsukon/sanjiegun (three-sectioned staff). Raphael comes with his pair of sai and a pair of jitte (same mold as his sai, minus one side prong). Michelangelo comes with his pair of nunchaku and his kusarigama (length of chain weighted at one end with a pole-sickle attached to the other). Additionally, they all come with a pair of shuriken, each set with a different style.

I hope this helps! :)

You did an amazing job on her. Looks like the art work of her.

Shells that open? Weird.

It did! Thanks!

I have no running car and am unlikely to get one anytime soon, so I can't get to places like Walmart as they're too far to walk. I get a ride with a friend once a month to get groceries, so my shopping choices for figures is usually limited to Amazon. But... Amazon has them at a little under $25 each. Time to start dumping funds in that account as I can scrap em up!

Donny will definitely be first if I get them one at a time. He was always my fave. XD Probably because I was a little smart geek kid until middle and high school tried to beat that out of me. Now I'm a smart nervous wreck with social anxiety issues.

I really like that they come with so many extra weapons, especially shuriken. I have a few of those (real ones) myself. Used to love throwing them at a target when I was younger. Maybe I should see about getting a target set up and find out how bad my aim has degraded.

If you want images of the bittyturtles, let me know! I'll be leaving them in their packaging tho, at least for the forseeable future. It gives me a good way to store them on the wall... Though, now I'm thinking if I get the big Turtles of possibly storing the bitty ones in their shells. And then making pregnant turtle jokes... eh... maybe not. XD

Thanks Faydreams! Yeah, we thought it was really weird too. I guess it's the kind of gimmicky thing that would appeal to little kids, but realistically it's just disturbing and creepy. I think some of Hubby's old early 90s little Turtles had that gimmick to, so this isn't the first time Playmates has done this.

Thanks Evelien! We need to get her tessen made and take some more action-y pictures of her with them.

Your welcome! Glad I could help!

Donnie and Mikey are my 2 favs, as well as my hubby's growing up. :)

We"ll take pictures of them with their extras sometime soon and upload them. They're great at action-y poses. The only problem we've seen with them is that because they don't have articulated elbows, Donnie can't hold his bo staff with both hands. He can pull of great one-handed poses though! We've got a couple of other weapons that April has been borrowing until her Tessen gets made, so everyone's in battle mode right now. I'll try and grab some pics later on (If I remember to charge the batteries!)

She looks really nice and looks just like how she looks on the show. You and your husband did a great job on her. I hope to see more pics soon. I really love TMNT (have loved it since I was a kid) and I admit it was a little odd seeing April as a teen in the new series but it was refreshing.

I'm sort of flailing over here at how good that face-up work is. It looks real close to factory to me; it's awesome!

Thanks! My husband has loved them as far back as he can remember, but I never really knew of them growing up. He introduced them to me via the first movie when we were dating. I remember we were really hesitant about the new series when info about it first started to appear, especially teen April. I'm glad we gave it a chance though, because we both love it! The changes they've made work very well, and the only complaint we have about it is that they keep delaying the next new episode for whatever reason (its been about five weekends now scince it was supposed to air :x :? ).

:D Hubby said to make sure and say thank you from him, and tell everyone thank you from him again! He really appreciates all the compliments to his paint work.

I'd forgotten that I'd taken a pic of Merida before we started to custom her head, so here is a before and after pic of her head.

Here are the pics of their extra weapons

After a second look at Raph's jitte, I realized I was wrong about the being from the same sized mold. They're slightly smaller.

Mikey's kusarigama could've used more links, so we plan on eventually replacing it with similar size chain and making it longer.

And action-y poses! :D

I just noticed they all have different color eyes... and Mikey has freckles! XD

That alone bumps them a little higher on my wishlist.
