There's an update by Wildwoodflower posted on JS's forum. I guess it's OK to copy/paste someone else's reply??

Oh, thanks everyone! The doll community is so awesome

I'm really surprised too... I thought they were gone forever. I'm honestly relieved they're still out there--my biggest fear was that they'd just been thrown away. (Janeway--the dollies were taken in a general car break-in. They were in a suitcase and the thieves probably thought they were clothes. The police said that the dolls were the only thing we might get back, because they're so distinctive.)

They don't look too much the worse for wear, but maybe a little beat up. Tanith (Resinsoul Dan) is missing her obi and wearing my stolen Ai's horns, and they all seem kind of yellowed.

I'm having ZERO luck getting ahold of the LAPD--like, even getting someone to answer the phone. I know it's not terribly high-priority, but Ebay won't do a damn thing without the police, so I need 'em. I sent an email, and I've called a lot, but I can't even leave a message. That must be pretty crappy when you really need to talk to a detective.

Just now I sent an email to the seller, asking him to cancel the auctions and get in touch with me. He's probably not going to magically send me my dollies, but hopefully we can talk about it. If he stonewalls me I am SO reporting his ass. I'll let you guys know what he says (or doesn't say).

The auctions can't be reported by individuals. This is what eBay says:

Reports of stolen property on eBay need to come from a law enforcement official. This reporting reason is for law enforcement and eBay PROACT members.

And if you want to fill out the form anyway, this is what you need to agree to:

By submitting this email I certify that I am a law enforcement official

One day and 9 hours to go.

-edit- Oh I didn't see Treth's post! I don't understand one thing - she can't get in touch with the police?! How the hell can you NOT get in touch with the police??????

Because the incident doesn't qualify as an emergency, so she has to go through the regular police phone line, not 911. It's not as easy as it seems, especially if you don't have a particular detective's name or extension. If the LAPD is anything like the departments in the Atlanta area, they are understaffed and overworked and probably not in a rush to answer the errant phone call, unfortunately. Were she local, Wildwoodflower could go there in person, but that's not an option for her.

That's weird.. we have both 911 (or our equivalent 112) and a regular police phone line too, but I have never had a problem reaching the latter at all..!
I hope she gets in touch with them soon :(
