Dolfie Dream Experts Please Help

Postby twiddle66 » Thu Jul 11, 2013 8:15 am

I've fallen in love with the cartoony Dolfie Dream heads. They remind me Of NOVA from Star Blazers (a popular cartoon from my teen years--yes showing my age here!)

I went to volks site and they have so many options. They show the heads on busts but they don't show the whole bust. Some of the necks look a bit thick in proprtin to the head and some do not.

I would like a bust with the slimmer neck in proprtion to the head, but I also would like the small to medium bust size and nothing larger.

Can anyone advise me as to which bust is being shown in the pics where the neck looks slimmer and does that bust have small med or huge bust?

Also, what is the quality of Volks Resin and does it shift color quickly or have any sensitive issues I should know about?

Thanks for any help!

Well, I'm not an expert but I do own a DD Dynamite, so maybe I can help?

First off, the Dollfie Dreams aren't made of resin, they're soft vinyl like Obitsu.

As for necks, as far as I know, they are all the same width? I guess it depends what model they're using, although I'd assume they use whichever body the head is intended for. Perhaps some of the heads are smaller than others? Or the angle the head is shown just makes the neck look thicker. If you're looking at standard Dollfie Dream heads, they're most likely being displayed on the standard DD body. Which is sold (without head) with the medium bust.

I hope that clears things up a bit?

It's already been said about the Dollfie Dream girls being vinyl instead of resin. One of the fun advantages of vinyl over resin is that there isn't as much color change over the years. I've currently got on my shelf a set of girls with a 10yr old body and brand new heads. Downside is that if given half a chance, they will love to stain.

For the cartoony 'anime' look, I'd also suggest looking at Obitsu. They are more petite than the volks girls, but there are some really cute 'anime' styles of heads available on them. I'm personally drooling over the new 'Kanna' sculpt. ^.~

If you are dead-set on resin... you can look at luts. They've a pair of lovely Senior Delf girls that have that aesthetic. These also come in both 1:3 scale and 1:4 scale. The 1:4 scale are definitely intended to be kids, which is okay since they are insanely darling.

There's also SQLab, they make really cute 'anime' style girls.

Sorry if this throws even more choices your way. ^^;;;

Hi, Thank You both for your replies!! I had no idea they are vinyl--or so big. I'm a "Tiny" guy mostly, but do collect bigger dolls as well. I definately want a DD Rena or Rina - she looks younger and less Busty but also has a crazy cute face!

I also checked out the Resin dolls below and fell in Love with the Lutz Resin dolls! THANK YOU for burning another hole in my pockets!! LOL I have a Luts Tiny Delf Brown event Hansel with a open smile--I just love him and the quality of the Luts Resin so I am psyched about them! They are also half the cost of the Volks Vinyl, but I love Vinyl too having collected that for many moons before Resin arrived on the scene --I am going to need Both!

Add to this all that Fairyland has now announced a summer event and a new Tiny called "Littlefee Baby" and I do believe I am suddenly in a great deal of TROUBLE!! KA-CHING KA-CHING!

Wow, I just looked up Rina and she's such a cutie! Rena is the name of the Mini Dollfie Dream standard girl.

OK- I didn't see Rina--I was actually talking about Rena-- The Mini Dollfie Dream Standard. Here is a link:

http://www.volksusa.com/ddim026.html

However after your post I did a search for Rina- and see an AMAZING DD rock star pre-order gal--But the pre-order is closed anyway. So I'm going to save pennies for Rena.

Gosh these dolls are incredible!
