My brother and his girlfriend bought me this cute little mirror in Side in Turkey when they were on a vacation. They know I love BJDs and they thought this was a BJD picture... and they were right. I found the exact same picture of Lati Yellow Miel on the Lati Doll website right here:

http://www.latidoll.com/2007_en/index.htm?mode=product_view&big=2&mid=13&num=228

The producer of this mirror probably used the picture without Lati's consent but I still love it. Coolest holiday souvenir I ever got. I couldn't thank them enough :D

Whether her eyes are open or closed depends from which angle you're looking at the mirror. It's adorable.

Has anybody else ever come across these? I googled for these mirrors but nothing came up.

It is a shame that some companies can't be bothered to get permission to use photos. Someone in one of the BJD Facebook groups found a bunch of stickers with close to a dozen different BJD company photos at a dollar store recently.

Doesn't discount the fact that it's cute, though, Evelien! Maybe the BJD companies should consider making items like this - I bet people would buy them!

Yeah, I wonder if the producer even knows it's a BJD or if they just found the picture on Google and thought it was cute... Since the internet, copyright is highly compromized.

I don't think they would get permission if they asked. They are after all making money with someone else's picture. When I wanted to use my Minifees to be models for the eyes I'm selling in my webshop, I contacted Fairyland for permission even if I made the pictures myself. They gave me permission if I'd mention the sculpt name with every picture but that was my plan anyway since they work as a reference for customers.

I've seen stuff like that before at the dollar stores. Most likely, it came out of China, where copyright laws are non-existent. I remember once seeing a crapload of Yu-Gi-Oh trading cards that were obvious ripoffs a few years back. I mean, they didn't even TRY to make them look legit. Badly-translated Ingerish, wrong pictures for the cards and everything. I bought a couple packs just because I found them hilarious.

Stuff like this happens, unfortunately. And for those who don't know what BJDs are or where the pics might've come from, they'd probably think nothing of it.

I've seen bits and pieces of stuff like this too in my travels, especially with lenticular covers, and I've been tempted but what keeps me from buying is it's not a sculpt I have. I'm in that boat where if I get stuff with a doll on it I'd like to know the doll.

I get that completely. I like this one a lot because I got it as a gift though :)
