Red Velvet Delilah...

I love this pic. I have a red OOAK Cheongsam outfit that I've had for years that will likely fit her though I'll have to line it with saran. If that doesn't work I may make her a kimono like this. I just love this look on her. This pic, I always go back to it. She's gorgeous in that against that backdrop.

I'm sure your cheongsam will look amazing if it fits well.Of course I bet it does because you have other Delilahs you can try it on for the fit. It's made of a red brocade, right? Or is it a print? Either way it will look fabulous.

It's all red Chinese brocade. It's a 3 piece outfit actually, and really cute. It's got a little pillbox type hat, a crop top and a long tight skirt. There was a woman on Ebay a long time ago when I was first collecting who was apparently making this outfit in a lot of colors. Someone I knew for a while online bought this one but she didn't like the red after all. I did so I bought it from her.

I originally bought it for a Golden Lotus Jade doll by Madame Alexander because I bought her nude and I wanted something in that brocade style but a little less traditional and I thought the 3 pieces were kind of sexy. As it turned out she ended up in a kimono that a pal made me and I then put the outfit on a MA Marlene Dietrich doll for a while and she looked pretty great in it. It really suited Marlene. But recently I tried another 20's outfit on her and I really liked that and I decided this time when I took her and Garbo out of their boxes for display I was going to try that instead for a while.

I have both of them, Garbo and Deitrich, actually I have both Garbo dolls that they did, though I changed wigs on the Camille one. I bought them both sans clothes at the time to save $$$. I was planning on dressing them in other stuff anyway. The Camille one, IMHO, actually looks the most like Garbo but the hair was all wrong for her normal look. The one that had the correct hair is okay but I don't think the eyes are quite as good.

The brocade outfit has just been sitting in it's baggie unused. If the RV Delilah has the new body it will likely fit, but if she has the old body it won't. I'll have to find a nice cotton print and make her a Kimono like this one. Actually I might have some material fairly similar to this in my boxes. I have a bunch of vaguely oriental prints I think in yard lengths and I think there is something that might be nearly identical to this.

My friend tells me she has 3 more payments to make and that I should have her by mid June. That's cool. It gives me time to figure out what she is going to end up in. I'll have to read a bit on the Delilah board and see if I can figure out which body she's got. I'm not sure. I think she came out after 2010 and has the new body, but I am not 100% sure. I do know from looking at pics that her skin tone is definitely different than D&D, much less gray but I've not seen a good pic of her body as yet. You can tell by looking at the tits, lol, but I have yet to see Red Velvet naked...

Well, it's been a long, long time coming because as it turned out getting that lay-a-way paid off didn't happen as soon as I would have liked. It took 2 months longer than it was supposed to for it to happen but I will have RV Delilah in the house next week sometime and that will be my 7th and yes, FINAL Delilah Noir doll. I'm done. As much as I love Delilah, and I do, I'm going to be concentrating more on resin BJD's more from now on and any future major doll purchases will be in that direction. I've pretty much given up on adding any more big vinyl dolls for now. The resin dolls they have taken over from the Tonners this year and I don't see that changing much now that I've gone there. I'm totally bored with Tonner, totally hate the redesign of Alex, can't afford resin Gene. About the only thing that's got me avidly collecting at all anymore now is the MH dolls (aka dollie crack) and I actually don't like much of what's coming out this time except for the black cat so there's not much I will be doing there this Fall it looks like. Probably a good thing given I have a used camera and a couple of low end BJD's to pay for. Pics later in the week. I've got to show you guys that outfit. I think you will like it a lot. Hopefully it will fit her but if not I'll show her off in her RV outfit I guess.

Likely I'll have pics this weekend. Thursday is looking like D-day. (Yay!) Oh, did I mention there are actually two of them coming, not just one? It's a long, long story, but this was actually a double lay-a-way between me and my friends. Originally it was supposed to be OBTS and only one. I wanted to custom a OBTS doll since I have that one and really like the skin tone on that one. I was also thinking about getting the RV myself because she looked great and I did not have her. Or another OBTS, but it turned out they had sold out of the OBTS and not updated the listing and that almost messed things up. In the end I ended up getting 2 RV dolls instead rather than not do the lay-a-way. The woman in the store said that she has the same pink white skin tone as OBTS. She's not a gray girl RV, and I figured why not? I then put a second RV on lay-a-way too and started paying for that one myself.

My friends and I we've been paying on these dolls since April I think it was? The plan originally was to have them done by mid June but it just did not happen money-wise. My friends both got reduced hours at work and I ended up buying heads for my resin doll bodies and a used RS. Delilah was a bit lower in priority there for a while, poor girl, or actually, it's girls. One of them I am going to keep as is. I like the Snow White look of her factory paint job, but I may go a different color for her eyes, or at least swap to better brown ones than the ones that come with. The other one I am going to do something completely different with.

I was thinking I might do a rainbow themed Delilah actually, and have a little fun making her as wild as I can. I have a pastel rainbow Delilah already in 12 o'clock Delilah. I thought it would be fun to make a darker standard rainbow version too. But I'm going to need another D name before I am done...

This is my crew as it stands...

Delilah (one who languishes) CA-D
Dahlia (from the valley) D&D
Damia (spirit of nature) PIP
Dacia (of Dacia/Romania)RV (factory paint)
Dinah (Variant on Diana, Goddess of the Hunt and Moon) ITS-10
Della (Noble One) OBTS

and?????

Back to the name books, lol....

Oh heck, OF COURSE, over the rainbow we go, DOROTHY!!!!!

I just realized that DDE carries Delilah Noir ... AND THEY ARE ON SALE!! I can get a brand new full set doll for less than used nude ones on Ebay! Oh, and I came across a bunch of repaints and - wow! :flail: ...... :FLAIL: I say!

Unfortunately the two I'm most interested in are both sold out - one of those being Red Velvet. She is so lovely! I hope you take lots of photos for us when she arrives!

Speaking of they're both here, but they are not without issues. One in particular has a staining problem. I'm not entirely sure if it's a vinyl discoloration thing or staining from the black leotard she's got on, which is lined, but she's got this weird patch of gray brown discoloration right on her navel area. I'm thinking it might be the leotard because on both of them there are also couple of very minor black marks despite the white lining up on the back. That I think a MC sponge can likely handle but I'm not sure about that navel spot. I'll have to grab one and see if it might help later. They did come with the usual white tights underneath and tons of paper in strategic places otherwise so I don't see anything in terms of the red velvet staining anything which was good, and the other doll doesn't have it so that's good.

FYI, RV Delilah is NOT the same near porcelain pale skin tone as OBTS. OBTS is about 2 shades lighter and a bit pinker. RV is paler than the CA/Debut Delilah. She's not the original Delilah NS like CA, but she's not porcelain pale like OBTS. She's actually somewhere between the two which is a bit vexing as I really wanted two dolls with OBTS's fair porcelain skin tone. I suppose it could be worse. She could be zombie parchment gray like D&D, but it was a bit of a disappointment.

The outfit is very nice. Even the boots look good which I wasn't really expecting. The jacket in particular is awesome and the under corset is a bit nicer than I thought it would be from the pics. I'm usually not fond of this particular style of corset. I prefer the kind that covers the chest completely but it's nice nonetheless. About the only vetch I have about the outfit is that leotard underneath. It's a bit hard to get on and off, no opening,m no snaps and it's not completely color safe I don't think despite the fact that it is lined. Maybe if you washed it a few times. As is, I think I'd put saran on her before I'd ever let her wear it again.

Ditto the jacket and that. The jacket sleeves are lined in white but still I think for the sake of caution I would always make sure she was wrapped well under it before I let her wear this outfit. It's pretty intense the red velvet and my experience with velvet has been quite often that red and black stain like mad. The hat is cute. It's got an Eliza Doolittle vibe, but I think I like the top hat idea better and I may just make one to go with it. Not just for me, but for the person who gets the duplicate too. It would be fun I think.

Pics later. We're going to see about those marks, change out clothes, and maybe give RV2 her custom makeup job later tonight. I'm not going to change it out completely. I am going to add to her eye makeup a bit and change her lip color though. Probably change out her eyes too eventually to different ones. RV 1 is definitely getting something different there too. I want to give her eyes some more depth though I may keep them dark. I want a gradient wig for #2, maybe a rainbow one, but I will have to either make or order her one later. For now she'll probably end up in something less colorful. #1 is keeping hers.
