Deadward and Vintage Spud.

Postby Kd_Bunchanumbers » Mon Sep 27, 2010 10:48 am

I recently grabbed myself a Twilight Edward... ON SALE. He was below half price and the clothes looked good... well, better than bathing suits or purple-orange shirts for my guys.

So yeah, Marcel stole his clothes and recently DollsAhoy painted up a harley Ken so I felt inspired to do the same to Deadwood. He kinda fails on tilty ken bodies:

And he doesn't match anybody except himself. Also he keeps looking up.

So anywho I wiped him and I kinda liked the sculpt itself, in a mannikin kinda way. If Harumika mannikin actually came to Australia instead of just dress forms I would've paired him up with one.

But naaaaaaah. I decided to give painting him a whirl... I dunno but I liked him without a face better.. I'll sleep on it before wiping poor Deadwood.

Everyone loves Marcel.

Well, my original intention was to sand the crap outta him, then make him look like new. Then I got distracted for two years by bjds and forget about him.

My recent vintage doll playing has made me dig up my vintage parts and I found Spud. He's called that cuz he looks like a potato. I dunno, but I like the character this guy has from all the battle scars so, I just touched up his paint a tad and stuck him on a CLONE GI Joe body. (Yeah, I haven't seen a non molded clothing GI Joe in my life son I figure my lifetime was filled with Action Man)

Me thinks this guy had a beard in his life.

So yeah, these guys are going to fit into a series of stories. I already got the roles figured out to fit into my five man band. I just need a Malibu Barbie to round out my gang.

Spud - The Mentor

Belinda - The Hero
Luke - The Chick
'Steffie' (no name) - The Lancer
Bettie - The Big Guy
Malibu - The Smart Guy

And possibly kid!Annakin - The Tagalong Kid.

Oh yeah, Steffie is on a Flashdance body. Yaey/Nay? Also, TV Tropes is friggin' addicting.

I kinda am developing a story about these gals. Like they're part of this pyschedelic Detective Goverment Spy Agency and solve whacky, groovy mysteries using the power of feminism and friendship. I just need my pimp van.

I want to agree with you and saw Spud probably had a beard, it might have been flocked. The grit does give him character. Good work on Deadwood, mkes me wonder what I could do with mine.

Aw, I like Edward's paint job. He looks sweet. He looks pretty cool without it, too, though, kinda zombie-esque.

That sounds seriously awesome as a story idea. If you want a van, I know Barbie had some RVs in the mid-nineties. They're hot pink plastic, of course, but you can probably work with that.

Deadwood's face looks 200 times better with your take on it. Srsly. He kind of reminds me a bit of Rufus, Ellowyne Wilde's "beau."

DollyKim, yeah, I think he was fully flocked... he kinda reminds me a shellshocked alcoholic war vetaran with his gritty face xD It can't be worse than sparkles for your Edward...

Tira-chan, I think part of my dislike for this doll is the fact he's so pale. I never do seem to keep any pale dolls as recurring characters in my 1/6th world...

Haha, these guys are a moreso tongue in cheek homage to 'spinoff' shows where a secondary character opens up a mystery solving business (I'm looking at you Angel and Torchwood) and such... I still wanna focus on my main storyline with emotional and character plots, these guys are just the softer and lighter alternative...

I'm looking for a four seater vechical (even Jeeps and buggys) which is surprisingly hard to find. Seriously, what kinda friend is barbie if she only has a two seater and over 9000 friends? Is there a Barbie bus or something?

I also did have a Barbie Van, but it was thoese annoying fold out kinds which wouldn't make sense in a realistic setting.

Mary Kathryn, thanks. I still he looks derptastic but it could be my own bias.

Nice work on the repaints, John! Of course, I just zeroed in on the vintage Joe; it's always amazing how the hair can completely fall off but the damn glue is almost impossible to remove.

David, I'm surprised that his original facepaint is still intact considering the state of the actual head xD And poor vintage Joe, he looks rarely happy, like ever :C

He's gotten a newer, more Hasbro body so I can actually pose him... too bad he has a molded on shirt. Very annoying.

But his face kinda makes him all adorable looking.

I'll confess I was thinking of the fold-out ones. They were always one of my favorites. But my sister does have a legitimate minivan. I think it seats eight, at least. Sadly, we packed it away, so I can't really get pictures for you. It was a lavender color or something, I think?

Oh, your Spud is really cute! So much personality in the little guy! ^^ I love him! And your new doll looks great!!!! Great work!!

For the vans, there was a yellow motorhome in the 1970s/early 80s that my sis and I had. It was HUGE and could fit MANY dolls---had a kitchenette in it, dining table, bunk beds, stove, sink and a bathroom and everything.

Let's see if I can find an auction of it....

Yup! Here it is!

Wow...and in so much better condition that the 2 my sis and I had. We still have them stored away in the shed, but I know they were really beat up (especially since we crashed one of them into our real car. We had a long steep driveway when we used to live in Pennsylvania, and my sister had this penchant for rolling her Barbie cars (with her dolls in them!) down the drive. She'd 'kick' them into the grass to stop them from heading right into the highway, but one time, she miscalculated and the motorhome was going FAST as it had picked up speed over 50 feet of hill, and CRASH! It hit our real car. LUckily the car was okay but the motorhome....the front panel broke and of course it had all scuffs and marks that would never come out again...)

Ha ha, it's funny the things that happen that make you never forget something. I think I wouldn't have recalled that yellow motorhome except for that 'crash' embedded into my memory.
