1948

They're too sexy for their clothing - but they have to wear them anyway! Did you buy it? Did you make it? Who cares - let'm strut their stuff here!

My Amelia in a blouse from a 1948 McCalls pattern (dress pattern) and a skirt inspired by one Bette Davis wore in the film "June Bride", also 1948.

I really like the looks of that. A nice, pretty, everyday historic outfit, neither too plain nor too overcomplicated. And it looks wonderful on her. :)

Did you resize the pattern yourself? Or is it one of those Hello Dolly resized patterns (that she claims she drafts herself)? Just curious as I've got a load of vintage patterns that I want to resize too :) I love that outfit - such a lovely combination of colors!

Although I've used Hello Dolly patterns (I totally believe she did it herself as they are not always well done) I scaled that dress pattern down myself. Hm. do I have a picture of the dress? Let's see. Yes, I do.

I just left off the skirt and added a band for the blouse.

here's my blog post about scaling down the dress and hat pattern. http://daretodolly.blogspot.com/2012/10/stylin-like-1949.html

Sometime today, I'll finish my post about drafting the green skirt in the first post.
